I have no serious plans but I did spy a few jobs in Juneau. Anyone in Juneau, how's the 4wheeling? Smog laws? Anything else to know?

Max, you want to be in anchorage. Juneau is a literal rainforest. And a cold one at that. Plus, no smog laws at all here, in addition to access to great 4wheeling. Juneau not so much. PLUS you can help me with my fenders :p

    That's a great summary.

The projects I work on are mostly pipeline related in some way; though pipelines include different facilities, bridges, fault crossings, etc. We're slowly trying to get into the transportation market (not competing with Anna, what she does is different than us consultants).

I'm the helpful type of geo (driller slang for geologist/engineer/dirt squeezer) and I've had the driller helpers get pissed at me before for doing their job...Oh well, everyone's different. I just want the job to go smoothly so I'll do anything I can to help out.

And it's Michael Baker Jr. :smack:

So all this job talk makes me have to ask... Does anyone know if any of these entry level jobs that have openings? Sounds like some pretty cool work but im lacking in the degree/ CDL categories lol. Shoot me a pm if you can think of anything. Thanks!

Hmm... a cold one huh? I thought the whole state was kind of cold. :p

Interesting though. No smog laws in Anchorage huh? Gotta be able to put that cummins in my land cruiser or it's a deal breaker. Doubtful there are any mines close by though. I haven't checked with anyone other than Hecla but they had a couple positions out of Juneau so I was curious. It's doubtful I end up in AK but for some reason I could always picture myself up there.

Oh and from what I gather, Anchorage is about the size of Reno/Sparks which is much too large for me.

Not autocorrect. I turned that off. Because it would do really weird things.

That, my friends, was a good old fashioned typo. :)

Here's what you do, you live in eagle river then, much smaller and 30 minutes away from town, and commute to red dog mine or somewhere. One of our guys works for red dog, lemme pm him. What's your experience max, are you looking for an operator position or are you just really good with a wheel barrow :p

    Mine mechanic.

I have some prior mine experience and some prior mechanic experience but not a lot. I'm also graduating this May with an associates in "diesel technology" from a CC here in Reno.

Don't go out of your way Ben, I'm not really sure what I'm after. Thank you though. :)

I to just graduated a diesel and heavy equipement course. There is alot more places to work around here Other than mines. plus I've heard that red dog mine isn't a very good place to work. Look up asrc online they work up on the slope and are a great company that I'm going to try and work for.

That's who I worked for here at their fab shop. Constructed modular pipe systems and pump stations then shipped them up north. Very cool job.
