Come mid-july for silvers out of Seward. Should be in thick outside of the bay and you can do a combo salmon/halibut as well. Plus ling cod/rock fish and you will be loaded with fish lol.

Anyone have an opinion for or against lift shackles? My dakars, even with the AAL, have settled more than I thought they would and I want to lift the rear a little more. Pros/cons to doing it? Wheelers has a 1" lift shackle set for $65.

    Too many to list now.
I'd do it. The shackle is a good item to replace with something you can maintain. A greasable shackle is muy bueno.

I put in a new set with the new springs, greasable ones. They are nice but I think getting an extra half inch or 3/4 inch would give it the stance I want. I've read longer shackles will prematurely wear out leaf springs though. Don't necessarily want that. Eventually I think I'll switch to allpro expo springs....eventually.

I put in a set of 2" lift shackles to get me a full 3.5" of lift with the deaver leaf pack the previous owner installed. Rides great, i'd say go for it. Only thing to worry about is making sure your shocks extended length is longer enough. The shackles will definitely increase your amount of droop and you don't want to max out your shocks.

Lemme see if I still have before and after droop pictures from the shackle install..

found em: keep in mind that the droop was only from the weight of the axle and tires pulling down, if it had been out on a trail with the opposite side compressed I would guess that both before and after would droop more.

Yeah I was wondering about the shock length...I think I will go for new shackles though. I really don't want to crawl back under there haha. Gotta borrow a floor jack and stands again :/ but hey, at least I know what the hell I'm doing this time around haha.

Thanks for the pics. What kind of shackles are those?

they're the toytec 2" lift shackles. Beefy as hell!! I was wondering why shipping was so much but then I opened the box and realized it was because they're easily twice as thick as the stock shackles.

With the added 2" of lift my 5100's are definitely too short now. Probably gonna step up to a 10" travel shock

Oh, and you'll most likely need either the exhaust hanger relocation bracket or chop your exhaust somewhere after the axle

Nice. Dan at wheelers suggested 1" Toytecs. But they aren't greaseable. They have a 1.25" daystar kit that is though. It's $95 vs $65 but I like the serviceability of them. And it'll add a tad more height.

Another question. A 1" lift shackle won't actually lift it an extra inch, right? More like half? Or am I misunderstood...?

I have the extension but I'm going to chop that bitch off past the axle anyway. Still hits the spring when I flex it.

No they'll lift the inch.. I think. But they're more than an inch longer than the stock sized ones. My 2" lift shackles were a good 3-4" longer than the stock ones.

Oh ok. Maybe I read the length of the shackle does not = lift gained, but around half that. Makes sense. I think the 1" would be perfect then. I wish it had greaseable bolts though. Maybe I can reuse mine, but I doubt it.

I think you're right on the length of shackle to lift gained idea.
