Hmm. I'll have to pick your brain on mounting an awning on my roof racks. If I wasn't attempting to buy a house right now I would have already ordered a tent and awning in the group buy lol.

SO hard to resist the RTT urge even if I have no need for one currently. My girlfriend said shed pay for materials to build a bed rack if I bought the tent hahahaha

Matt, here's my made up facts about you. You're basically Richie Rich in my head. Same person. Parents don't check bank account activity so you're a do what you want badass who chooses to WHEEL! You of all people need a roof top tent. For the sole reason that your girlfriend is willing to help pay for it. Keep her. And the tent.

Right I get that part. But I'm trying to figure out if it'd be bad to mount it on all three bars. One is attached to my shell and the other two are on the cab. If I wanted a shorter awning I'd just put it on the cab, but I think I'd go with the 99" version. Don't think it'd be supported enough with just two on one end, and I don't want the truck to flex and damage it if I put it on all three.

And I'd like one off the back but still be able to open my camper shell door while the awning is deployed. Like some sort of height adjustable mount.

I have mine cantilevered out about two feet, never had an issue. I would by no means mount to both the cab and shell. That will end badly for the soft aluminum.

As for the adjustable mount I'd do a swing-up. Be pretty simple to do actually.

 Wellllll considering I have to pay for school, and might be transferring to a school thats bit more expensive even I'm really not richie rich. Although if I got a nice good paying job the summer I could be. And I just got a regular tent for my birthday a couple months ago.. So my plan is to go camping and wheeling with the girlie whenever I can this summer and then nextttt summer I can get in on the annual CVT group buy because its just soooo much easier to have a tent right where your truck is at all times ;)

OH!!! I could do what Hagen/babytruck is doing and drive my truck down to school next year and live in the RTT!! Then id save money cuz I wouldn't need to live in the dorms or an apartment!

Lol I'm not creative enough in designing things to make a swing up mount. I like the idea though.

And as far as mounting one on the side, I think what I'd end up doing is adding another bar to my shell and taking one off my cab. The mount it to the shell by itself, and have a platform for a RTT in the future.

That's the best solution I think. That'd be a lot of overhang if just on the cab.
