I'm pretty much free Fri-Mon. After Friday we would have to choose another location than Ben's driveway. So if someone has some jack-stands and a location we could use then Sat, Sun or Mon work for me

    Too many to list now.
Jackstands are right inside the fence should you need to swing by and grab them.

How many quarts of oil does that require? I'm assuming you've got the 3.4l as well.

Yeah 3.4l. If i remember correctly you'll want around 4 quarts. I have a clear container i drain it into that is marked so i know exactly how much to put back in when i do it. The thing here is, if your fluid is already old and in need of replacement you just need to replace it all, because the pan itself only holds like a third or a quarter of the total fluid in the transmission. Do you know of the trans over heating at all? Or is the fluid dirty or a good clearish red?

Now that I think about it, my trans pan has a good size dent in it, as many here know, so maybe it holds more than 4. I honestly dont remember but its around that amount. Im sure the number is around the forums somewhere.

I don't know of it overheating and the fluid is not clear red. Doesn't look burnt either though.

Actually it's pretty clear still. Doesn't smell burned. Either way I should have something done. It's been shifting kind of hard lately. Especially when I put it into drive. Could that also be bad u-joints?

I just did a drain and fill on my trans today and the pan had just over 4 qts in it FYI. If its in good shape thats what id do to save money. I did it every oil change for like 5 oil changes to get a bunch of clean fresh fluid in there and now I do it once a year.

About the shifting, are you saying it like lurches when you put it into drive?

Yes sir. Lurches forward like crazy. Does it a little going into reverse but mainly only into drive. If I'm in town Saturday I think I'll try a drain and refill. Any tips you have for it? I've never done it so I don't even know where the drain plug is lol.

Just like an oil change, except you put the new ATF in the dipstick tube. The drain is right on the bottom of the pan just like the engine oil pan. Make sure you've got a funnel that fits in the dipstick it's pretty skinny. And I recommend measuring how much comes out. Should be right around 4 qts but its a pain if you overfill it to remove some. And afterwords when you check the fluid level, you're going to want to do it with the trans warm and having shifted through all gears and with the engine running.

As far as the lurch, does it do it all of the time, or when the engine is cold/ at a higher idle?
