Oh yeah I usually go to 20 for that trail. Thats where my tire deflators stop at anyway. Just to soften up the ride and not rattle the shit out of my shit haha. Then just air back up at a gas station in Palmer on the way home.

Here is a question for you AK guys! I am in the Military and I have a 1984 Toyota Pickup that I am getting from a family member. Right now the pickup has the Michelin M/S. My Brother said they have been a great tire and would recommended them again. With me moving to Kodiak, AK I thought I would get the A/T2. I am not planning on doing any big time four wheeling while I am up in Kodiak. I just want something good in the Snow, rain, and for camping/hunting, I want something reliable. After reading what most people have said about the M/S2 being better in the snow and rain I am leaning more in the direction of the M/S2? Just wanted to get peoples information and input. I have my tire appointment next week.

No experience with those tires but people love duratracs up here. Great in the winter from what I've been told.

I have not run either tire, but tirerack.com has been pretty straight forward with reviews. Maybe someone else can chime in! Free bump...

By the way, Hatcher Pass was gorgeous! I made it all the way up the road and oh my, there where some hairy sections of Rock gardens but it was so worth it! At the top there is a historic cabin that had a couple cots in it and various chunks of mine debris/machinery in a few spots of the valley I went up. Shooting was great too!!!!
On the way back out, by the mine shaft and other building I had posted about a few weeks ago there was a stuck F 250/350 with huge tires. Appearantly "bogging" thru Tundra/swamp is what they call fun. Inherently the massive weight on the front end sunk the truck past its front axle and almost buried the rear as well! Got pics coming... Luckily his buddy in a lifted green TJ winched and pulled his fat butt out of the bog. When I drove by I figured why not offer some help, after I take a pic lol. After I walked over I heard the Warn winch whining with the load if that sucker! Looked to only be a 5000# winch and that truck had to weigh about that dry... Anyways great time! Saw a little bit of ice on the trail in a few spots on the way up and it actually was snowing a little up by the cabin, not enough to show up on camera though.

    Teaser pic

That would have been a blast! We went for the top of the pass at first then after we made it to the cabin we went down and shot the 5 guns we brought lol Pics uploading... My mom got a gnar one of me, showing how much Roxanne needs some lockers! And I REALLY need sliders. Desperately. Had some really close calls.

Sounds like a fun trail. Where is it exactly? I've been meaning to get out and wheel but hair haven't had the time.

I didn't, but I went pretty darn close! I easily could have at that point made it to that boulder. My mom was just getting kinda bored watching me... And since it was "her" special trip for her birthday I just parked the taco at the semi flat area in front of that huge boulder.

How far did you go up?

I stopped at the little pull out on the left side going up. Before the big flat rocky area with a creek flowing over it. Hard to explain haha. I posted a pic of it in the trails thread. I think you went farther than I did.

Hmm. I bet I did, it was pretty sketchy in a few spots (especially the last long steep rocky climb) without sliders or lockers or skids... Not sure I would do it again without at least some sliders. I got some video, but might be a day or two before I get it uploaded.

That sounds awesome :) I need to bash my sliders in some stuff to justify buying them hahaha

There was only one spot I was worried about needing sliders the last time I went. Man I want to go drive that again and camp up there with the ol RTT now haha. That trail is the main reason I wanted a RTT actually. I love it up there. I think I'll be going in two weeks if anyone wants to go with.

I work that Friday night until 11:30 PM, so if I have a light HW load at UAA hopefully I can go Saturday.
