Made it plenty of times before. Trophy case says so. Our bridge last year beat the national winning bridge by over a million dollars (4 mill vs 5) but a weld broke in regionals and disqualified it.

Where does she go? We did some top secret recon on arizona states bridge over spring break and it was a pile of turds. My buddy couldn't lift an end of it up it was so heavy, and we had 6 year olds lifting ours up on their own.

Ugh. you UAF people always beating UAA....

I did it for 4 years. I have a coffee table made from old parts of one bridge and my bed frame is made from parts of another.... :p. Best thing I ever did in school... I learned to weld :D

Well it is UAA after all :p

Steel bridge is actually something I'm looking to be a part of now that I'm not killing myself trying to make up for being a little behind. That and the SAE Baja team

Haha. UAA is growing substantially in the engineering side of things. All we had to build our bridge was our minimal knowledge of welding, a few 110 V welders, a drill press, and a few angle grinders.... yikes. I think even now there are more tools available to students for this.

What's your degree? Steel bridge is for civils. Baja is for Mech. Can't mix the two :p

I'm mechanical. But then again so is chase, sooooo :p

baja sounds more up my alley, I'm just not sure how easy it'll be to get in to it considering the team is almost always a national contender and is pretty close-knit haha

The UAA Baja team has full access to the welding shop (220V mig, tig, stick, and fully electronic shears, drill press, dozens of angle grinders, and a crappy tube bender), so the bridge team for UAA should too. I really wanted to join the Baja team, especially since the head professor, Todd Peterson, is so cool but... Haven't yet lol.
