Hey for those of you guys that are blessed with living in Alaska....Im planning a trip up from SoCal up to Denali, Wrangell St Elias, and Katmai... Its not for another year but I'm getting started already.. A few questions...
    - Are the Aurora Borealis lights visible at all during the summer/fall months?
    - Is the ALCAN why traversable during the winter?
    - Lastly....Would anyone recommend a block heater, oil pan heater??

    Thanks for any input!

So if we drove up during the summer/fall for 3 weeks, would the heaters be a must? or just nice to have..

Not needed whatsoever in the summer/fall.

It doesn't start snowing until mid October and doesn't get to temps where you might actually need one until late Novermber usually

Do you have photos of some of the sliders you have done? Bolt on or weld on? I'm up in Fairbanks but might be making a trip to anchorage soon

Thats whats prevented me from doing it haha! I need about 8-900 psi, or at least I did. I'm hoping my new reservoirs will help lower my needed pressure. Trucks a pig.

I'll get some pictures of our sliders tomorrow. Basically we can do whatever you want though. We did a set about 8' long on a dodge and dimple died the whole sheet on top. Looked really sharp but man dit it take forever!

Getting 30 mpg on the highway

Not really. Might get lucky in the fall but they are more prominent in the winter

I have driven the ALCAN in January and March. Just be prepared for cold!!! I got lucky and lows were around -10 in Jan when I did it. Can be as bad as -50 or more in Tok.... Then you will ahve some car problems.

Most of us up here have at least a block heater. If you are going to be here in the winter (Jan/Feb are the worst) and up north near fairbanks then yes, you should get one. Oil pan/battery would probably be be overkill for just one trip. I think i got my OEM block heater online for $40-$50. Install is super easy. There is a port in the engine already you just plug it into and then thread the wire out the front of the grille.

Anyone have any interest in the front TRD seat covers and the TRD cold air intake. I have them in the garage collecting dust. Also have a heavy duty pillow block carrier bearing brand new?
