I think the cheapest way to move is to have a container or two shipped up. Gun stuff thru Canada is pretty much impossible. A few years ago I shipped a bunch of long guns via USPS, shipped from myself to myself. Had something like a 100k insurance on the box. Was only about $150 to ship.

The ferry isn't a bad option either, my grandparents did that on the way down a couple years ago.

Handguns I believe are the only firearms you can't take through Canada. As long as you have the proper paperwork, rifles and shotguns are good to go

@username you'll love it up here. @Brussell18 ....stahp with the fj40. Those things are terrrrerible. Get an 80 series if you do anything. If nothing else you can hold onto it for years and it makes a fantastic family wheeling rig. 40 series is like riding in the back of the bus all the time. Your butts right over the rear axle. Theres a reason we don't work on them in our shop, and you know how much we love our toyotas.

The ferry isn't too bad! I had a lot of fun on my WA to AK ferry trip.

I did it in the winter. So I drove to Haines (had to go through canada) and was on the boat for 3 days until we got to Bellingham. I did have my truck . Was not too much of a hassle. The big thing there is that you are not allowed onto the level with the vehicles unless the ferry is docked. (which happens several times a day)

I see. I would probably drive the Duramax (then barge it) and ship the FJ80 and Taco, although I have considered selling my Tacoma. The detroit locker is sketchy on icy roads, and your skin sticks to the roll cage when it's subzero. It's not a very good winter rig, but would be fun to rip around in the warmer months. Even though I'm running super light Fox oil in my shocks it still rides like a freight train for the first few miles when it's subzero until the oil warms up!

Weather wise, the Anch area is not too frigid. Usually get a couple of weeks of sub zero in jan/feb. I would say expect 15-20s for most of the winter. Unless it is last winter. It rained all winter. It was awful. Made me have to work damn hard to enjoy any snowsports!

Thanks. My great grandpa recorded the coldest temp in Oregon in my home town at -54f, so the weather there will actually be an improvement!
