Just happened to get on ebay this morning to look around and found a guy who was selling em. He had one set of 500 BM three sets of regular 500ff and one set of the 700ff and the 500ff went in like three hours. All brand new but it was the last he had in stock and he wasn't posting anymore after the time ran out so I jumped on the other two sets. I was thinking about doing six black magics but after getting these two for this cheap I think I'll do the 4 700s on the bumper and the two black magic 500s combined with the relentless fab mounts on the hood. Then do bids in all of them :). Next month.

Ok. I'll keep an eye ok the GB and see how it's doing. I think it'd do much better if they opened it up to more than just one product, but we'll see how it goes. I'll price out each thing individually when I have a computer to look it up on. Mine too a dump.

Well apparently shipping that kit up here is $100...my mom lives in Arizona so I may be able to ship it to her and have her send it up via postal service for a lot less. I'll see what I can do. It's all dependent on whether people join the buy.

Yeah for sure. I dunno if it'd be worth it for me to buy it even if you guys buy the stuff I don't need. Can get an ARB 17,500 lb strap on Amazon for $52 shipped here...is that too light of a strap? Or would 24,000 lb be better for our trucks?

Well according to Ann a size doesn't matter so much as how well you use your equipment. The way I see it in this particular situation you can never have to much to work with and it's better to have the extra strength and need it than need it and not have it. I mean nick has been known to roll around with some scrapes of straps from his C-130 that are meant to hold down cargo and pallets on the plane lol. Getting the bigger strap wouldn't hurt your performance.

While I'd normally agree with the ' I'd rather have more and not need it' thinking, I think with snatch straps it'd get to a certain point where it's no longer a snatch strap. If its TOO heavy for the vehicle, then it won't stretch. Which could damage the vehicles being used, correct? At that point I may as well be using a regular row strap or chain.

After typing that out I googled it and they recommend the straps minimum breaking strength to be 2-3 times the vehicles gross weight to allow proper stretch. My trucks gross weight is 5,100 pounds dry, plus a few hundred in gear and camper shell + myself. So let's say 6,000 lbs. With that thinking, the 17,500 lbs strap would be best.

BUT, what the hell do I know? I'm just googling stuff haha.

It makes since to me I didn't think about it being to heavy.

Well the other thing you have to know is that when your thinking about pulling things, given in my c-130 experience ive never yanked anything lol, to pull an object that weighs 5100 pounds you dont need a strap rated to 5100 pounds, because when pulling your truck it doesnt weigh 5100 pounds. The amout of force needed to pull your truck is actually the weight of your truck multiplied by the coefficient of friction that your tires create.
    For example:
The winch on my c-130 is rated at 4000 pounds single line pull however in the desert i can winch on 8000 pound humvees all day long with a single line due to the fact that multiplying the hummers weight by the coefficient of friction for pneumatic tires means that the winch is really only pulling about 1800 pounds. Id say your just fine with the 17,500 but i always reccomend having a backup anyways just incase the yanking goes poorly lol

Yeah that makes sense. You also need to factor in how stuck the vehicle is haha. I think I'll wait it out and see how the GB goes, but the whole shipping thing worries me lol. Especially when all I'm really interested in at this point is a strap. And maybe shackles even though I have nowhere to put them at the moment.

Haha ya the being stuck part deffenetly adds some friction hahaha. Well i saw the group buy and it looks like they meed more people before it takes off anyways

Yeah. The last one had multiple products and seemed to do well. I think most people aren't interested in all of that gear at once. If you have a winch on your truck, you most likely have already bought straps. And if you're just getting into it like myself, then you have no need for snatch blocks, 4 shackles, and winch extensions.

Ben, I did that for 6 mos or so right before I got married. Got up at 2:30 am 7 days a week, went and stuffed and delivered all my papers, worked my regular job, went home and straight to bed. After you figure out how much in vehicle maintenance and fuel, plus self employment taxes, it's really quite less than a minimum wage job wage with a lot more stress...

Parade Rainer, that is what I shall call you ;)

Yes but I'll drive Amanda's car, that way I don't have to maintain the vehicle, since we're going to sell it anyway. We'll see though, it's not a for sure deal yet. Just trying to figure out extra cash for mods and thought that was the least intrusive since I don't sleep much these days anyhow. I do remember you having to stuff them though. I wish that wasn't part of the gig.

Ben you could look at getting in to the court order serving gig. I don't know exactly how it works up here but my bro does it in Phoenix. Not really a full time thing but a half dozen or so a week. Don't know the pay though.

For the record, I have a 30' 17500 ARB snatch strap. Have not had to use it yet but I did a fair bit of research on what would cover any situations I might end up in and that seemed to be the winner.

If some huge ass dodge 3500 duelly is in a ditch... well he is SOL....Neither my taco or my snatch strap is going to attempt that.

Yeah I hear ya, this is just for a few months to pad the account while we buy our duplex and remodel, after that it'd just be for truck funds so we'll see how long it lasts.
