I added a sliders list in the 907 monthly thread so if you guys in here are looking at that as an option, never will you have a better opportunity than when we do that to save on shipping.

 

Hey Ben Natidog brought up a good point about having the sliders welded on and adding to the price, I would offer up my services and weld them on but I dont have a welder and a place to do it. You think green tree would make us a deal or would want us to have them build us sliders? I just know a lot of companies dont like it when you bring other vendors stuff to them.

 

Yeah, I'm not sure how I'd work that. I used to work at the ASRC fab shop here in town with some of the best welders in the state so I'm going to bring mine down to them probably. I know nick at underground has said he could weld them up for us as well so that would probably be the best place to do it for guys who don't have a hook-up.

 

OK, another question about retrofitting...Was it really all that difficult in taking apart the headlights? Any issues with breaking any clips or warping the plastic so bad it doesn't seal properly? I'm not a moron and am pretty sure I can do it easily. But I don't want to run the risk of damaging my only functioning pair of headlight assemblies and then have to end up ordering new ones. I can always just order a set of depo lights and retrofit them instead, but I'd rather not spend the money.

 

It was pretty simple Mike. Time consuming, absolutely, but no warping, nothing broke, and they turned out good. Just read this write-up beforehand so that you're not making trips to the hardware store multiple times after you've already started the project.
Think about if you want to paint the insides (BHLM etc) and make sure you have all the emery cloth, adhesion promoter, primer, paint etc.

sweeet. Thanks, I didn't see that on their website. And I do plan on blacking out the reflectors and am toying with the idea of color matching the shrouds.

 

The biggest thing to stress is to take your time! They say that over and over and I still felt I had to rush through it. Fight the urge to rush, doing it over the course of a weekend would be better but it can be done in one day if you start early enough.

 

So heres an idea... How much is a little welder from sears? 500 bucks ish?

 

I don't trust myself enough to do a permanent modification to the structural integrity of my daily driver. For me it's not worth the risk of screwing up one of the larger life investments I've made to save MAYBE a hundred bucks.

 

who is confident enough to weld on these sliders given the proper space and equiptment?
let me know because im trying to work out something that could save everyone some money lol.

You mean like the factory ones? I'm not really a fan of the bars, but if you're talking a custom one, they CAN be flipping sweet. The one billy and I are designing is just that.

haha with all of the stuff I was posting in that thread last night I might as well, eh? I think I'm going to order the mini h1 kit with the upgraded XB35 bulb tonight. I have some PTO at work that I need to use before the end of the year or I'll lose it so it will cover most/all of the cost.

Unless of course you'd recommend the D2s instead. the FXR sounds great but I don't want to chop stuff up.

 

aww cmon, youre getting it for more light, may as well get the most of it!
