I was looking more into the moromoto mini H1 or D2S just because I don't want to modify the housing that much. And I'm sure they are way better than stock. That's all I need, really. The only concern I have is sealing them back up without getting any fogging inside the lenses. My buddy had CCA do the BHLM on his '12 outback headlights and had to take them back 3 times to get them re-done to get stop the moisture buildup. I just don't want that to happen.

I've been checking out the local scene pretty heavily. The GPS store has started carrying ridged lights. They're amazing. And the marine grade is fully submersible and in a white housing! Looks so sick!

I've been looking at the vision x lights at Alaska Spring. Those guys run specials on them once in a while.

Yeah I went by there as well. Cool guys, they actually sent me over to Dan Green to talk tacomas which I thought was funny. They specialize in the american made market.

The guys at Alaska Spring went over the wiring in the vision x vs the rigids, and why the vision x are less likely to burn out. I'll see of I can look it up after work.

Haven't found anything on wiring yet, but Rigid is made in the US while Vision X is manufactured in "Asia" Doesn't say where.

Everything says they're both a great product so far, but that may have swayed me to Rigid.

What's the reason for VHF vs a CB?

Edit: did a little research and I see there's better coverage. How easy is it to obtain a license I wonder

I sell all kinds of VHF radios at my work. You don't need a license to use one. However, it's technically illegal to use them on land. But try telling that to anybody living out in a village. That is practically their only means of communication.

Not sure, I'm still trying to track down a good shop for these things in general, when I find that I bet I find the answer though.

How much does one cost on average for our use atleast. I know the ones on our c-130's are prolly ridiculous lol. But do they make a small compact one?

I work at West Marine, but only one day a week (usually Sundays) at the moment thanks to my classes  I just did some more reading and a few different links I saw said you can get up to a $10k fine for using VHF on land. If I were you I'd stick to CB. Even though you may think you're inland far enough to not transmit to any boaters on the water, the Coast Guard has incredibly powerful receivers to pick up a transmission from very far away. I doubt they'd ever be able to find you, lol, but still.

I've been eyeballing a CB that my buddy just put in his rig. All the controls/speaker are in the handset, it's pretty sweet. I think it's a Cobra.

But the marine ones are white. I don't know if you saw that. :p It matches my color scheme. Haha probably not worth 10k though. Yikes.
