Since I got your attention, any good Canadian sites that sell parts? Also what are the points for under likes?

For some things, check ebay or Amazon. Just pay attention to shipping and exchange rates. I bought new replacement mirrors for 28 bucks delivered to Yukon from Ontario. ordered 2 wheel spacers from california for 110. but they wanted 220 on a re-order so no thanks.

    You're from Taber right?

I'd just price things out online and then price them out at the local guy (Prime Auto). He's usually close on most components like suspension but some things he's way out. It's nice to buy it locally though because if something is wrong they'll take care of it in my experience. Plus then your dollars stay around town.

For online shops I usually just use US outlets and then have things shipped to the border. I've also used 4WheelParts.ca a few times. Amazon.ca works well too. I tend to avoid some of the other ones because they are drop shippers and will take your money before they even have product in hand.

I'd like to find a front bumper that will kill the deer and not the truck or at least save some of it. That's the only mod I want, our mustang is the summer cruiser. This truck is our winter time cruiser and I Will still have to convince the wife. And really just looking at prices.

PM'd you. Don't waste your time getting a bumper anywhere else other than Cochrane Toyota, 4Wheelparts, or the GearShop.

Anybody know a good place for suspension around Edmonton vs buying online? I'm looking to get Billstein 5100s, still trying to decide if I'm going to stick with the stock coils or get aftermarket ones though.

Also there's some very interesting political/environmental talk happening in this thread, nice to see people taking an interest. In my opinion the biggest problem facing the world is over population. Seems like all world's problems are stemming from it. I realize it's not such a problem in Canada on its own (people vs space) but the world as whole is focused on a continually growing economy. Unfortunately the most likely outcome with this model is that the planet's resources will run out one day. Technology will not be able to keep saving us indefinitely. It'd be nice to see some economies based on sustainability instead of growth (my 2 cents anyways).

I'll bug some of my up north buddies on the suspension for you.

I think sustainability and population growth control are difficult to achieve right now because the world isn't all at the same point of development. While it would be easy to regulate the population in the developed world, and honestly that's already happened, the developing world is just coming around to the technologies that make more humans live longer. We can't take away from them the same progression we went through and that's causing a 3rd world population surge.

Food wise I think we will be okay especially if we harness GMO's properly and sustainable. My biggest concerns are with water and energy short falls for a world trying to carry 10 billion people.

I agree, population is the elephant in the room. Resources are finite on a finite planet. This guys talking about oil and population nails it on the head IMHO. Its a long video, a little over an hour, but switch oil with any resource and it holds true. Simple math!

Agreed, I believe there are lots of educational programs being sponsored in developing nations right now trying to educate people of the dangers of having too many children (especially those in which hunger, famine, and poverty are already rampant). For many of the nations though, many children are still needed to work farmland, or in other places because larger numbers means more power. I think I read somewhere the ideal population for sustainability for the earth is 3 or 4 billion people, but I imagine the ideal number of people would be fairly hard to determine. All I know is as long as there is a demand for resources, they will continue to be produced at a rate to meet the demand.

Just posting this here. Looks like some local fabricators are finally making things for Tacoma's. I just messaged him about a bed rack and his rates are reasonable:

Where would you Alberta folks recommend looking for a roof top tent? planning to mount one on a bed rack. Want to support as local as possible within reason.

The gear shop can order from several manufacturers. They even buy from an Alberta based company that has their tents built in China.

Cochrane Toyota also sells RTT'S and associated gear. Kyle is the guy there to talk to.

4wheelparts can also bring in tents but I personally have not had great luck on expensive items with them.

Alberta wide ban on motorized vehicles on crown land until further notice:

So no wheeling until we get clearance from the province. Oh, and to clarify to the people who thought this only applied to ATV's these signs have been placed outside of the PLUZ's.

    13118833_10156773982945618_8299750181059013974_n.jpg

So don't fall for the old "I heard from a WO that it's okay to be in here with a truck." The WO's didn't understand what the original order was so some of them allowed trucks to wheel in these area's... which is why this has been clarified with signs lol.
