well today was kinda short lived lol. completely forgot the rust converter requires 24 hours before you can paint over it. BUT the entire underside has been cleaned of all the dirt, rust converter sprayed, and i have an undercoating that will be going on. once thats on and dry....que the POR 15 and primer! cross your fingers...but i should be "done" with this bed by the end of this week.

that way i can finally clean the garage and get started on the cab!

    thanks man!!

What is the rust converter you are using? I'm restoring the bed on my 85.

today was a great leap forward. got the bed degreased, metal prepped, and got my POR15 laid down on the floor and side walls. I used the entire can I got, but POR recommends 2 coats, and I got 3.5 coats out of what I had. super happy with the outcome. just need to finish the underside as there are a few more spots that need undercoating, then tomorrow, 320 grit the floor, sand the bedsides, bumper, and front, and I can lay my primer! lets hope things go as planned lol

check it out guys! FINALLY primed, took me 5 hours almost to scuff up the POR15, sand down the bedside surfaces again, and get the long bed primed. 45 hours total (give or take lol) and the bed is finally in a spot to go back on the truck. i THINK this will be the last time it will be off

it aint perfect in no way, no barrett jackson resto in any way lol. more of a rust rescue lol
