The stock and a few options. Look into the National Firearms Act of 1934 for definitions of "firearms", "any other weapons", "pistols", "rifles", "destructive devices", "shotguns", "short-barreled rifles", "short-barreled shotguns", "machine guns" and "silencer/suppressors". It's very convoluted. As an example, according to the ATF, since I have a pistol (basically barrel shorter than 16" without a stock or forward hand grip(even longer story and gray area)), I could add a forward grip because it's over 26" from barrel tip to buttstock fully extended and it changes from a pistol to a "firearm". The NFA is ridiculous lol.

Edit: long story short, barrel length under 16" no stock installed makes it a pistol.

So that stock you have on it makes it a rifle as long as it's installed?

It's not a stock. It's a stabilizing brace, so not a stock as far as the BATF defines it. The intention matters in the build of a pistol like that one. Originally, i had the pistol buffer tube with foam outsert, but it wasn't good enough for stabilizing the pistol unless hip-firing, so i replaced it with the brace that wraps around the forearm, but opted for the cool looking "PDW" style brace for the cool factor. As an aside, the BATF no longer considers shouldering a brace a change in the design of the firearm, but my intention is a pistol to be used by anybody, no matter their particular disability.

It's convoluted as Hell. If you're going with the "cool-guy" pistols, that's when it gets confusing. It originator started with the NFA of 1934 as a reaction to the St. Valentine's Day massacre and other mob violence of the era to limit access to full-auto firearms, suppressor/silencers, short-barreled rifles and shotguns, explosives like grenades, rockets and mines, and anything that skirts the foreseen variants (any other weapons). There was also the Gun Control Act of 1968, then the Reagan-era one where no civilian can own a machine gun made after 1985. It's a deep rabbit hole of cool antique and expensive firearms. If anyone tells you about buying an M16, the last time I was shopping, a registered (has to be registered as a machine gun prior to 1985 otherwise illegal for civilian ownership, although there are ways to shoot one), a lower M16 receiver, with no parts, was $16k and an MP5 was $32k.

I think it was 1986, but yes, all legal "fully auto" weapons go for some heavy coin!

No, I'm going to set up a firearms trust with my kid on it before I do that. First, I want to get night vision squared-away. I'm thinking I'll get a DBAL with the IR laser shaved to the visible laser then purchase a Gen 3 Pinnacle set of PVS-14s then purchase a .22 suppressor for my two .22LR guns and a decent 5.56mmx45mm/.223 Rem suppressor after that.

M4 with M68, M4 with Comp M4, M249 with Eotech and M4A1 with Acog TA31. That doesn't include the 60mm, 120mm and 81mm mortar cannons along with the repeated times I've qualified with the M240B, M240L, M2, M2A1, and M2A2/M2A3 Breaker IFV with it's M242 Bushmaster Chain gun and M240C coaxial machine gun. I've also been qualified and have called for fire with 777 105mm howitzer guns.

Edit: and the Beretta M9, hence "Beretta4x4"

Did you have an M203 grenade launcher? I had one on my airsoft M4, and that shit was badass... I dominated the airsoft field we had down here.

I've sit out and qualified with it before, but I was never a designated grenadier. I was surgical the few times I shot it, but it's but a surprisingly short effective range.

Edit: The army currently uses the Heckler & Koch M320 40mm grenade launcher

I'm not an expert on real grenade launchers, but the real ones, and airsoft ones both use 40mm grenades. Here's a demo of the airsoft grenade launcher I had... the dude in the vid is just dry firing, but if it were loaded, there'd be airsoft BB's all over the place.
    https://youtu.be/1DBghzpmlpg
Here's an airsoft grenade with a capacity of 108 rounds:

The old M230 40mm grenade launcher worked the same way. The difference was it felt a lot like a 12-gauge when you fired it and it added a crap-ton of weight to the front. When doing reflexive fire, it was similar to the M249 SAW when it came to burning out your arm muscles lol

A real one looks heavy... the airsoft one was a metal slide, and plastic body... only weighed 1 pound when empty.
