    I’m going with the highest quality items for the cheapest price. A set of speakers and CarPlay head unit all for under $500. Here’s my setup from Crutchfield:

    Sony XAV-AX1000 - $250
    JBL Club 6520 - $100
    JBL Club 6520 - $100

    All brackets, wiring harnesses, and trim pieces are included free, although I might replace the Metra headunit surround piece with the Schoche piece. I know this isn’t the optimal performance setup, but my music taste sucks, don’t listen to anything above the volume level of 50, and want something at least better better than stock for a cheap price.

    Headunit and speakers both have a 4.4-4.5 star rating each, so they must be ok quality.

    That one that I listed has CarPlay, but my only gripe is that it’s not wireless. Only the high end Alpine HU’s come with true wireless CarPlay.

    I thought I’d never like it, but while driving my moms car, I plugged in my phone, and automatically lost my CarPlay V-Card. I fell in love with it, and don’t mind the cable as I’m always charging my phone while I drive.

    Most headunits come with it either way, so it’s meh. Google maps and Spotify are the only real apps I use.
