Good to know. I was not sure if those the actual setup because there are no instructions on which bolts and nuts to use to mount the camper shell.

The harness in the link I sent you is just a basic harness to tap into your brake light without having to cut or splice

Thanks. I've placed the order for the regular version. Hopefully it will have enough wire to connect to about 4" wiring that came with the camper.

You’re going to have to add on to the leads, it’s all really easy to do

What size of Allen wrench was used here? I've been using a vise grip to tighten and re-tighten the bolts. My biggest size Allen wrench is still too small.

Edit: found the correct Allen wrench.

I like that a lot. Someday I may consider that setup.

I see them on FB marketplace for 6k.
I’m sure a Chinese shell would be fine but I’m not chancing a pop up camper to a Chinese company

I was wondering if others including the ones with the LEER, ARE and other maker of the camper shell. I am having to open the camper shell rear door before I can close the tailgate. It becomes a routine that I have to unlock then open camper shell rear door, I closed the tailgate then I closed the camper shell rear door. İ have to do this all the time when I have to open the tailgate. Is there a workaround to this?

Are you just using the unistrut angle brackets for these? I found some gussetted angle brackets designed for use with unistrut. I may use the gussetted brackets along with some unistrut compatible end caps that have a square base plate. The base plates look like the holes may line up with my awning mounting tracks. Should make for a solid mounting system just not sure about height yet need to get some more precise measurements.

Totally normal to have that overlap on any shell. Shells have been that way in my experience since the 80’s. If it didn’t over lap it would be a big leak intrusion area. BITD before locking tailgate handles it helped secure the bed.

I just used some generic black angle brackets I got at Menards. They’ve been plenty strong despite being fairly thin. I was gonna do the actual unistrut angle brackets but I was in a time crunch and I’m ocd and didn’t feel like having to paint them black lol

For you 3rd gen guys. Are your new camper shells wide enough to be almost flush with the outer edge of your bedsides? From your pics it looks like they are close. My new Alibaba aluminum camper just got here and I got in put together, but won't be able to test fit for a few more days. Based on my measurements, the outer edge of the camper shell are going to sit about 3/4 - 1" narrower than the outer edge of the bedsides, and in my eyes creating a water holding trough. Also the inner lip dimension of the camper shell has a taper with cab side 53 1/2 vs tailgate side 54. My 2nd Gen inner bed rails looks to be an even 57 at cab side and tailgate side...I sent a ton of pictures with measurements to the Alibaba manufacturer who swore this would fit my 2nd Gen even though all their pictures were of 3rd gens. I obviously took a gamble, and if it doesn't fit once Im able to do a test there will surely be a 3rd gen truck here in Denver that would love to jump on buying it off me lol.

This is the link to the "item". In reality you just start chatting with the supplier and work out the item you want and can discuss dimensions etc...
