Id go with the Alienware for sure. I think Dell makes an excellent computer and Win 7 is an awesome OS as well. My new computer is bitchen fast and cost half of what a mac would cost with the same specs. But I havent been a fan of macs since the 5th grade (although i was in love with the lemmings game on those pieces of shit). Just my .02.

AutoCAD on a mac? Ha Ha! It would be like running r14 again... "p" for pan... "z" for zoom... I would go nuts without a three button mouse. :smash:

I say go for the Alienware solely because it is a PC. I'm not sure about you, but I REALLY enjoy third party software, and with a Mac, there is a massive lack due to the way they are programmed.

I also think that Windows is a much more customizable O.S. and that is a plus because you can set it up to the way that YOU will use it. And the argument that Windows gets more viruses is weak, as long as you are careful on the internet and run a good anti-virus/anti-spyware program you will be pretty safe. GO PC:D

You can plug any mouse into a Mac. So your comment makes me think you know little about Macs. Therefore you have no credibility to compare.

What software can't Macs get? In what ways can't you customize a Mac?

Unfortunately the world does not revolve around you. Apple stores will warrant their products. Good luck finding a Dell, HP, Acer, Toshiba, Sony or Asus store.

ok everyone lets be nice now. I really like the built quality of the Mac, their os is really nice as well. For the alienware it good internal and best bang for the buck, and I do play game once in a while. I am pretty famuliar with the pc so it would be really easy for me to navigate. I am really close to jump the gun on Alienware.

I am mainly speaking of miscellaneous free programs found throughout the internet, such as those found on "download.cnet.com". For a given category, there is a lot more found for Windows than OSX. But that site is just one example.

There seems to be a lot more support for PC's, though maybe that's just my experience. Whenever I need burning software, I have a huge selection at no cost. Or photo-editing software, same thing.

To the OP, you made a great choice. I am for the Mac, but for what you are doing, the Alienware will suit your needs better.
