Just got back from an "attempted" alignment with Toyota. Mounting and balancing the new tires/wheels was DIRT cheap so I figured I'd have them do my alignment too. They got the camber and toe spot on, but told me "Caster can't be adjusted." What the? The truck is TOTALLY rubbing on the back of my wheel well at 1/2 turn of the wheel. Not great. It's SUPER obvious those wheels sit SUPER far back on the wheel well when pointed straight ahead. I've read and it seems the dealership are a bunch of idiots and have NO idea what they're talking about. I've got a set of Kings and Total Chaos UCA's so I thought I'd have all the adjustability in the world. Thoughts??

Lot of questions. What size lift if any, UCAs or no? Tire and wheel combo/size backspacing etc.

King 2.5 lift running at about 3" of lift in front with Total Chaos UCA's. Running BFG KO2's 285/70/R17's with SCS Ray10's - 4.30" backspacing. Other people are running similar setups with little rubbing compared to my INSANE amounts of rubbing. Confirmed they did not mess with the caster at all. Was 3.3 and 3.7 before they did any adjustments and was exactly the same after - no change. Description says "couldn't adjust caster because of lift." No additional detail. I'm pretty sure they adjusted the alignment prior to the tires and wheels (I had forgotten to give them the lugs).

So they didn't adjust your caster. Take it back or take it somewhere where they are more competent. Firestone lifetime alignment is about $180. Well worth it too

SCS ray 10's are -10 offset if I remember correctly. 0 offset would be better. The -1 pushes the tire further out from the truck. Wider stance looks bag ass but increases the likelihood of rub. I also believe that the alignment tech is full of shit.

Alignment aside, you are going to need to trim with those tires and wheels, I promise.

A lot of places these days are spouting that same story about caster and lifts, I had a firestone say the same thing.

I expected some rub at a further lock, not after a quarter turn of the wheel. Honestly it's SUPER stuffed in there. The side that has caster closer to 3 rubs significantly less. Hopefully another alignment at another place will address the issue.

Over 3* caster and still rubbing? Sorry time to cut...the more caster you have the less rubbing you get.....doubt you will get much more caster

Yeah I have 3.5/3.9 caster with ray10s and 285/70r17s, any more I was rubbing a bit on the front at full lock. The offset on these wheels put the corners right in the fenders. I'd also expect you will need a CMC if you don't already.

Did you find the time to swap out the LCA?

Not yet...I'm gonna run it for a few months while I get new spindles and gusset them. I have to do cam tab gussets too...I honestly think it's the spindles. I don't think the LCA would cause this issue

I can't even turn the wheels to full lock at all. I'm okay with a CMC or fender trimming but I'd like to be able to turn the wheels a little bit.

You cannot get much more caster than that with stock geometry control arms.

That's a shit ton of caster.

You definitely need to trim and do the CMC. Even my 255/85/16's required a little trimming and like 2.7 Caster to prevent rubbing. No CMC though.

It sounds like the alignment numbers are just fine. If you want 285s, you need to get rid of mud flaps, trim the inner wheel-well liner, and do a cab mount chop. Know before you buy.

Do I have to trim the fenders to run 35s. What about the mud flaps?

After looking at it a little more the side at 3.7 is barely rubbing at all and only at almost full lock against the cab mount. The 3.3 side is the one that's stuffed in there. It's hitting the inner fender well and the cab mount. I'm going to take it down to another alignment shop and see if they can eak out a little more caster. Again, I'm okay with a CMC but it'd be sweet to clear the fender well.

Before you go to an alignment shop, check your LCA cam bolts, if the caster bolt is maxed out you are unlikely to get more out of it without throwing camber out of spec.
