    Hey guys,

Just put on 265/75/r16 Cooper discoverer AT3 LT c load tires, 4 tires going from the stock size rugged trails. Tire size changed, so gonna go in for an alignment with a local guy. Front is lifted 1.6 for level, but considering lifting the back with a Wheelers 3 leaf 1.5" progressive AAL to get the rake back. It bothers me the back still seems to sag with the TSB leaf pack.

Question is, if I get the alignment before adding the leaf pack to the back, would I need another alignment after?

Also with that AAL, will I need to do the carrier bearing drop or shim anything? I currently haven't changed anything besides the needle bearing with the 5100s and Eibach springs for 1.6" front leveling.

    Really appreciate any input.

Yes. You will need to realign the truck post rear lift. If the rear looks low you probably didn’t have 1.6” of rake to start. Rule of thumb for shims is 1* per inch. Imo I’d do the carrier bearing drop first it should be fine. But each and every truck is different I have the rear lifted 2” with a 2* degree shim and no carrier drop and have no vibration at all some truck need both, some none. Good luck

I wouldn’t get it aligned after. If your rear is out of alignment you have big problems.

If you lift the rear it’ll change your frame angle which will in turn change your caster. So it’s probably not a bad idea to atleast have it checked afterwards.. I know a lot of alignment shops in my area offer the initial check for free.

Edit to add: I went with the deaver single leaf aal from headstrong and have not had any vibrations yet and did not use any degree shims or a carrier bearing drop.. I contacted headstrong and basically they recommend to do the lift then check your drive line angles to see what you need.

    (127 X 2) X 3.1416 ÷ 360 = 2.2” per degree

    1.5 ÷ 2.2 = .7 degree decrease in caster for 1.5” of rear lift

    LOL

Just do both at the same time and do the alignment once.

You shouldn't need a new alignment just for a trie size change depending on how severe the tire change. But since you obviously aren't adding a front lift and cab chop you can't be changing sizes that much.
