I have a high speed shimmy in my 2008. Not quite a death wobble but definitely a little bit of high speed oscillation. It's not offensive enough but if it was on my 1991 I'd be thinking I need a new steering damper. My best guess is worn out steering rack bushings but they are kind of a PITA so haven't tested the theory.

I've always had a bit of a mild shimmy in my 13 at highway speed even when it was all stock. Nothing crazy though. It's worse now with mud terrains :)

Sorry guys, wasn’t trying to troll or anything. I guess maybe it’s just the roads I’ve been travelling on. This has just been my experience, and by posting this I was hoping maybe some guys could have chimed in and let me know their thoughts.

Mine shakes (I guess it's just you and me OP lol), I originally thought it was the tires so I had them balanced several times, tried different PSI's, rotated them, alignments, etc with no luck. Eventually I gave up and at one of the shops where the tech had the same issue with his Toyota and told me I needed new steering rack bushings (or I could replace the whole rack itself). Following this thread [here] possibly going to change out the tie rods too.

every time I had steering wheel shimmy it was either bad tires or improper balance.

Road force has to be below 15lbs to prevent shimmy.

The other problem I found was a lot of places road force but do not force match the assembly to get the lowest road force values. They will balance and say everything is all good even though there is 25lbs of road force.

Never had a steering wheel shimmy or shake in the nearly 7 years or 100K miles I've put into this junk. I have gone immense lengths to ensure that would not happen though, from road force balancing, to rehauled suspension all around, coilovers, remote reservoir shocks, polyurethane steering rack bushings, intermediate shaft bushing weld mod, uniball beefy control arms, take your pick. I feel more of the road being transmitted to the steering wheel now, but I like it. It's solid, like a truck should feel.

It's highly likely you are just driving on crappy roads and that is the main source of the issue, and there is no workaround for that other than moving.

My truck has a lil shake in the wheel ON SOME ROADS . I think it has more to do with the paving than the truck.I am talking higher speed roads here .
