All 2nd gen Tacomas have a steering shake?

Lotsa things make the Tacoma shake.
Need to stay on top of it all for it to not shake.

I have no shakes but did when the tires were improperly balanced.

 

Does it shake all the time or just on acceleration?

The latter would be a driveline issue.

 

2008 ,small shake at 57-63 mph

 

I forgot to mention ,I’m lifted about 3” on 33s ( Bilstein 6112s front andDakar leafs in rear . ). New frame ,new steering rack ,new PS lines. Lift is not quite a year old . Total Chaos UCAs and new LCAs. New intermediate steering shaft . Got to be the tires or the way they are balanced

U-joints?

 

Driveshaft and u joints checked during TSB campaign and the dealer said they are fine . Probably should replace them though . 113100 miles on the truck

 

My 2015 doesn't shake even with these heavy aggressive bitches.

 

Mine never shook before, it does a little now and I think it's because my passenger side caster is out of adjustment. I welded my alignment tabs last night and will get it re-aligned this weekend.
Have you had the front end aligned lately? Was the caster in spec?

 

Caster won’t cause shaking. It’ll cause the steering to feel heavy or the truck to pull.

 

Nope. Never. And I run a mud tire.

2015 PreRunner 4.0L - stock truck - conventional tires - 42K miles. I have never experienced what the OP has.

It wasn't shaking with the stock wheels and original shocks.
When I changed to Bilstein 5100s at the 1.75" height setting, the camber was pushed positive, and toe was out. This causes major shakes. After an alignment which also required right side lower ball joint, New sway bar bushings and New stabilzer links. ... The shake drastically reduced. There is still a slight steering wheel shake at about 80 km/h, then it increases at about 100km then lessens again at 120 km.

Mine has always had the shakes. Tried lots of things but nothing seems to work. Had the rack bushings replaced during the frame swap and it kinda got worse. Everything is tight up front so i assume it's safe to drive. Yesterday it was shaking so bad that the change in the ashtray was rattling, but then it stopped. At first it was annoying, now it's pissing me off.

I have a 2017 and I have a steering wheel shake at highway speeds. It is more prevalent when accelerating up hill. I drive on normal roads. So it is not the road. I thought it was normal for these trucks. Now I may take it in before the warranty expires.

 

Does the shaking get worse when start apply the brakes? And I mean apply the brakes for a gradual slowdown ant an abrupt stop.

 

My 06 Tacoma does not shake. Maybe the vehicles the OP drove had out of round tires or something.
