My 06 shakes. Slight shake around 50mph. But I do believe my tires are out of balance. Oh well.

Had a bit of a shimmy at certain speeds for a bit, turned out to be mud in the barrels of the wheels. Now its buttery smooth all the way up to 85-90MPH on my '06

If the brake rotors get the groove carved into its face from use of aggressive pads - it will contribute to severe steering wheel shake.

I definitely have the steering wheel wobble/shake in my 2007 double cab with 20" rims and 6" lift. The guy I bought it from last year says it had just started doing that. I don't know if he was truthful or not.

I mean you can feel the shakes while applying gas and while coasting. But when you apply the brakes, does the shake get worse?

My 15 shakes between 60-65 mph. Rebalance helped and I’ve managed to isolate it to one bad tire. Mine seems to be very sensitive to tire balancing... it’s gotta be spot on. That said, it’s a minor shake - mildly annoying but I can squeeze another 10k outta my Coopers before they get replaced. Curious to see how it acts with new shoes but will have to wait a bit.

I had a very bad steering shake and noticed I pulled to the left. I replaced my calipers with Powerstop ones, and that fixed my issue. This was after replacing tie rod ends and inner tie rods thinking that was the issue. They were worn out though.
I have a slight shake at higher speeds, but its not that noticeable or bothers me too much. I think my UCA or LCA is next though.

Interesting, what about the caliper was bad that it required replacing?

I think one of the pistons were seized on the driver side. I turned in the caliper to RockAuto and got a deposit back, and using it for rear brakes now :).

I guess while I was driving it would maybe seize up and cause my fucked up wobble. The calipers weren't even in my mind until I felt the pull and massive loss in acceleration while letting go of the gas.

0 shakes or vibrations with 120,000k miles, lifted, and on 285’s. Never had an issue or been susceptible to this issue that “all tacomas have” at any given speed.

Hmm... Another thing for me to look investigate. My shakes aren't always consistent. And most may look at me like I have two heads. But I feel temperature had something to do with it. It's generally worse in the early mornings and has improved noticably recently. And my shakes are worse when I cover the brakes to slow down over a longer distance. The shakes stop when my speed drops below 40mph or if I really step on the brakes hard.

Then I hose them out and they do not shake.

My passenger seat, on the other hand, will thoroughly shake a can of paint all the way home.

My steering wheel shakes when I hit the brakes hard, but I think it's my bald mud tires that are out of balance. Loud and wobbly with the typical wow, wow, wow roar going down the road.

I came from an 08 4runner and feel that overall the 4Runner was a more refined ride- road and wind noise, steering and driveline vibration, suspension setup in the rear, etc.

I also went from an auto trans to a manual trans. One of the reasons I wanted a manual is that you feel more of what the car is doing.

If you compare the two, there are more noises and vibration in every aspect of operation in a Tacoma than a 4runner. I thought I knew what I was in for when I switched, but have been surprised how much more noticeable the rattles and shakes are in the Tacoma. Tacoma is 2 years older and had a frame replacement too, but again, I knew that going in.

I don’t think I have the steering column vibes people complain about and have done u joints, ecgs bearing, lift, tire balancing and all other normal preventative/ normal maintenance at this point. Only other thing on my list now is to put in a new shifter ball/ shaft as mine rattles and squeaks.

Having said all this, these are all minor annoyances to me and on most days I would still make the trade and have the manual trans. Even though the TOB squeaks and my clutch has less than 20k miles on it.
