You need to use a laptop with Windows XP or the firmware for the cable doesn't work. Had a hell of a time trying to install it in my Windows 7 laptop and just found an old laptop at my work that luckily still ran XP

That is quite a different design , looks to be a lot beefier around the pivot area - at least the case portion anyway . What does the key blank itself look like ?

Key blank.... I'm not an expert in metals but the size and quality was fine from an ease of cutting point of view. Keys ship out to you today.

    Nothing much, Just a WEBER!

No really... Hookup? I found if you buy on of the high end ones online and have it shipped to your house from HD. Return it to the store and it will be immediately marked down to clearance pricing. . Buy it back for the lesser price.

Some flip keys Ive used in the past, when you turn....the shell turns first slightly and then the key. This is due to a weak pivot point. Look at the key in video. Key blade and shell turn at the same time.

I agree but if you carry keys in the loop..be careful. I will always go with durability over looks.

Home depot store manager told me this. Sent me the wrong one. Went to return it. The manager says to me.

"You want to buy it back? When something like this comes in, we keep it in the store for 3 days then send it back to the warehouse or manufacturer. While it sits here in the store, we mark it down heavily to provoke a sale. SO, I ask you again, DO YOU WANT TO BUY IT BACK?"

Item was ~$900 and the system automatically marked it down to ~$240

So call it what you will. I did not take advantage of it. I ordered a propane version, they sent a LP version. I did not have LP to hook up to and didn't want to mess with it.

Back on topic - The key has had no issues yet. Range is limited. But I do not need to lock and unlock from across the football field.

I'll do an actual laser range finder tomorrow. Building the fuse really boxes right now and super busy.

    BAD NEWS!!!!

Putting all the metal around the flip key has really messed up signal range. Back to manufacturer to see if they can re-design shell.

I might just have to order a bunch of VW shells now.

I had a sneaky suspicion at first. Basically a faraday cage. Didn't want to jump the gun and create a scare.

I'd still buy another VW Flip and all in one when they come in.
