Look at the picture of the keys and you will see the difference. Picture? You take key to a locksmith or dealer for cutting and programming.

The 4BT has an extra button for "trunk release". Obviously our truck doesn't have a trunk... So you would opt for the 3BT. The 4BT still works if you like to have an extra button that doesn't do anything.

Oh ok, I read a post and it sounded like it came cut and just needed to be programmed.

Haha... plainly obvious. Now the decision of whether to go flip key or regular.

I recently bought the flip key seen a few posts above.

Today I had it cut, and was trying it out and it didn't seem to work. I don't want to spend money flashing the key if the key was cut wrong.

The problem is that the Key will unlock/lock the doors (with key in the door), It will also slide nicely into the ignition, BUT it will not turn once in the ignition.

I spoke with the service guy that was going to flash my key, and he said it should turn in the ignition even without being flashed.

Is the key cut wrong? or does the key need to be flashed before it will turn in the ignition?

It's a bad cut. Without being programmed, it should turn in the ignition and crank the engine, just the engine will never start.

Yup, I played a round with it a little more tonight. The key does work but takes some finese. I might try to get it cleaned up tomorrow if they are able to recut it. If not hopefully a few weeks of putting it in and out will round the edges of the new key to help it work easier.

You can definately see how rounded the edges of the old key are, even considering the truck is only a 2013.

Just be careful the key doesn't get stuck in the ignition and leave you with an expensive repair bill. If it doesn't engage correctly, you really don't want to use your ignition switch as a key file. It doesn't take well to metal shards falling inside. Best to have a good locksmith examine the key to see how badly it was cut.

    Who cut it?

Proper locksmiths calibrate their machines very precisely. That way they don't get returns on copies of copies of keys for locks with tight tolerances like Sargents. Not so much with a hardware store.

Just ordered one of the G all in one keys an a cable from Amazon to program it. I'm hoping this works. Having a separate key and fob is annoying.

Curious, the back of my 3bt key broke a chunk off, are the backs replaceable?
If they are would like to order a replacement back, and a new flip key...

Please go to my site and report it. Two other people reported issues with back cover. I want to see if items went out around same time... Batch issue or a design issue. Please send photo if possible.

Sorry I couldn't post your site.
I do plan on ordering flip key, you came out with these right after I ordered my current key, I actually wanted the flip key, just missed it...
Can you give me a code/order #, to get a replacement back when I order the flip key?

Wonder how WeberSarge is doing on his free units. He said he breaks everything pretty much immediately but I haven't noticed him ever post about them after his first impressions.
