I have the last season on my DVR. Still haven't found the motivation to watch it.

My understanding is this ties directly into Dr. Strange and the multiverse of madness in that context it makes more sense. While I don't think that this is so far the pinnacle of MCU content it has
made me feel a certain sense of dread or discomfort. I believe that this is going to steam roll into a much bigger story.

 

I watched it regularly while it was airing and really enjoyed it. I liked how it tied to the movies and timed the storylines around what was happening at the time of a new move release (for instance the implications from Capt. America Winter Soldier) but it did get really strange in the last couple of seasons and it completely lost itself and what made it good. It steers away from the movies and is hardly connected at all to the events of Infinity War. I also haven't seen the final season so maybe I just didn't watch far enough.

 

After watching it once that is how I felt. Then I read a lot about it and the easter eggs and then watched some of it again (mainly because my wife fell asleep the first time) and I started to like it more.

 

Been watching WV as well and I enjoy it so far and the eastereggs are a def plus

 

I must be missing something because to me WV looks like simple fan service. I hope I'm wrong & it gets better.

 

Marvel has always had a long-term story strategy, especially since the 1980s. Stories in one title line would either set up other titles, or span multiple titles. The best examples of this were Infinity War in the 90s or Civil War in the 2000s. Stories spanned the entire catalog in one way or another, so the best way to get the entire story would be to collect all of those comics - not just the preferred titles.

They brilliantly incorporated marketing/storytelling strategy in the movies. The character movies stood on their own, but added to the larger story. That's what made The Avengers movie so good - it could stand on its own but was better because of the individual movies leading up to it.

Since Endgame, their mission is to set up the next phases. This is the first story to lead into that, bridging what came before to what's coming next.

The other thing that Marvel does so well is misdirection. They keep showing you something flashy in their left hand up to the moment the right hook comes in with an atomic haymaker.

Fan service is great, but (with the exception of that Thor The Dark World garbage) story is EVERYTHING...and there's so much more they haven't shown us.







Can you imagine if they'd done Star Wars of Game of Thrones?

I'm one of the few who never watched Game of Thrones. As far as Star Wars, lets hope it's more Favreau and less Rian.

The combo of Favreau and Filoni is as good (if not better) as Lucas and Kasdan working on Empire Strikes Back.

 

Began re-watching Mandalorian and I'm down to 3 more episodes. So blown away by how well it was done.
