I have a 07 Tacoma Sport Long Bed. I am very interested in purchasing a rack but curious how much lower can the rack be cut to still fit the pictured storage bins on a gear rack and/or a couple of Rotopaxs on the long rail of the gear rack? I am looking at the top rail of the rack to be slightly raised above where the top of a Rotopax would sit. Also, are there any pics out there of a short bed rack installed on a long bed truck? Just curious how this would look. Maybe allow for a little bed space to throw taller items in the rear of the bed and tie them to the top rail of the rack. Thanks

We might be able to work up a deal for you if you wanted to get both those options at the same time if you give our sales team a call.

We don't know of any bolt-on methods for the spare tire but if you find one please let us know.

Looks so good!! Thanks for for all of your support and for sharing this!

You can go to about 14" in height and still be able to use the gear rack with storage. Using the shorted PackRack on a long bed wouldn't workout visually too well though because of the taper the bed rails have. We haven't seen anyone do this either.

Any update on Canvas cover like Defcon's?

Also is it possible to add the weldnut inserts to an existing Packrack that I already have?

The company we are using, same as the one who initially made Defcon's, to get a cover option made had to delay the R&D process because of some large jobs they took on... They told us they should be able to continue the process and getting us out a prototype before the year is over.

You can add the weld-nuts at anytime but will require drilling holes and welding them into place. We can sell you the weld-nut inserts separately.

They're having the company that made the canvas cover for Defcon's in the pics above make these but the company is behind on other projects and the cover r&d was pushed back, can't wait until they have one though!

Anyone know how much the steel rack weighs versus the 25 pound aluminum rack?
