Hey everyone, does anyone know any videos or write up of installing the all pro low profile tube bumper. I did manage to read having to cut off the original bumper mounts but is there any more detail then that?

Factory bumper takes like 5 minutes to remove; do that to figure out what exactly needs to get trimmed.

Worst case, spend another 5 minutes reinstalling the factory bumper.

    10mins if you're using handtools.

5mins if you're using a battery powered ratchet.

Only if you live in the nice Sunny Climate with no liquid brine and other winter chemicals.

Here most times you break the bolts off or cut them off with the Torch after the last person rounded them to the point not even the rounded fastners sockets help .

Thing is in this part of the world 4x4`s see the most use on those fun filled winter weather events then get put in the garage till the next event

    This part I can understand.

I guess I should've specified that the job itself is a 5-10 minute job because it really is; that's assuming that none of the bolts are rusted and/or seized.

    Well yeah....

You'd be insane to live in a place that causes so much rust on your vehicle. Doesn't seem worth it.

I bent the tabs 90 degrees inward instead with a wood block, mallet, and channel locks. No need to cut them honestly. Took me a total of 15 minutes to reinstall post powercoat

with the link kwik posted there just small tabs right? Mine came with a thin piece of steel maybe 1” x 2’ with nuts welded on separate from the bumper and mounting plate, thinking it’s skid plate mounts or something.

I called all pro and they were useless in helping me lol. You don’t have to cut off or even mess with the original front Ifs skid plate mounting locations to put this bumper on do you ?

Yeah it's just the end point just past the nut. The link shows the photo perfectly. No messing with the stock skid mounts are necessary, but you can't run the skid (obviously)

All right. I’ve been so busy with work haven’t even had to time to take my bumper off and look. I have skid row skids in already and I’ve seen another first gen with the bumper and skid so it will work somehow lol. Here’s his truck E4F04DBA-3F95-4A9F-A4E4-BE00CFF15847.jpg

That's not the same bumper though. I've read that the all pro bumpers can only use AP skids, but don't quote me on that.

    Good luck!

Hey all just got my bumper, does the crossmember come off that holds my skid? I’m guessing I shave off those two tube steels poking out? 8DD97EF4-4327-493E-BBBD-EFBCB74D9E82.jpg

There are bolts inside the front frame horns. Unbolt that and the skid plate bolts. Then you need to cut the Triangle parts of the mounts on the side mounting areas

Remove your skid - the *Trail Gear* low profile bumper you are installing has a nut strip to replace that cheesy paper thin sheet metal cross member that your skid is mounted to. I had to cut sections of mine out instead of cutting it out, but you may have a specifically unique area(s) to clearance it due to yours being an 01 and mine being an 98 with varying front bumper / frame details.

Did you buy that new or used? If it was new, it should have come with the strip you lay in the mounting piece you are showing us a picture of that doesn't fit that you will bolt your 3 front skid bolts into.

It's the "nut strip" in the installation instructions:

    upload_2020-9-23_17-35-24.jpg

    https://trail-gear.com/downloads/pdf/instructions/120176-1-k.pdf

Here's something to guide you - @DJB1 just cut more frame out than you.
