I know this has been asked before but I can't find it. I am installing all pro standard leaf pack and I was wondering what shocks I should get. I am looking for some good shocks at a good price. I do about 90% daily driving and 10% playing around off road. Let me know what you think. Thanks guys

I have the 9.5" travel fox Piggybacks All Pro sells. Great shocks, but pricey. They also sell cheaper options. There is an extended travel Bilstein 5100 that would work well. They are a good option you can get for under $200. I used them at first. They are great for the price.

    Icon/All Pro.....chopped for 35's
Ext travel 5100's have the perfect numbers with AP's flip kit.....just shy of 11" of travel and no need to relocate shock points like everyone else is doing. Downside is they suck for anything other than crawling and DD.

    Just my .02

The extended 5100's part number is F4-BE5-B110-T5. They are actually Tundra shocks, but the dimensions are right for a tacoma with a 3" lift. Downsouth motorsports has them for $169 I think. And they give discounts to TW members. Very good guys to work with!

The Icons are nice. And they are rebuildable. I have Icon coil overs and love them.

Not anymore. I ran 5100's all around for a while until I could afford the new stuff. They are great on road and occasional off roading, depending what you do. I do a lot of faster desert stuff, so I wore mine out pretty fast. If you can afford the Icons I would go with them. They will last the life of the truck.

I'm running ext. travel 5100's with an expo pack. 5100's for the money best out there imo. I really like them and the fact that Toyota chooses Bilstein from the factory is good enough fo me!

You could remove the rear shocks and drive on a ramp until you hit the bump, measure top mount to eye on the axle on both sides (compressed and collapsed), call DSM and ask what application would best suit your needs.

The better shocks (Icon, King, Fox, Camburg) can be tweaked to get you more travel......I'd do this and call DSM. Again, 5100s are not up to the job of med-heavy offroad use. They're way too generic and don't have enough valving built into them. What a lot of people don't understand is you get what you pay for. $1000 for complete lift front and back will not have quality valving (5100s, OME, Toytec). Sorry, I digress! ;)
