I've been posting a lot recently and I've decided on downsizing from my current 33x12.50x15 BFG ATs to a 265/75r16 on my stock rims.

    Current
    IMG_3082.jpg

Now, I'm on a mission to find the best looking/priced/and of course performance All-Terrain tire.

With the looks, I want something that looks kinda "big" without actually being big (kinda confusing I know). Also, I like the aggressive looks.

The price is important also because I'm on a tight budget and will be mainly working with whatever money I can get from selling my current tires and wheels.

As far as performance, I mainly drive on-road in a small town. So it's some highway, some backroads, some gravel, some dirt, some farm roads, and some moderate trails every now and then. Basically, I need a good all-around tire.

Here's my list that I've been considering:

General Grabber AT2 - They look good (similar to the KO2s) and they are rated well and priced well. My dad is currently running 31x10.50x15s on his stock '99 taco and he is pleased with them.

Kelly Safari TSR - They look pretty aggressive (similar to a Duratrac) and they have also been rated well. My friend runs 31x10.50x15 on his lifted '90something Jeep Cherokee and he is in love with them. However, they are kind of hard to find for a good price.

BFG KO2 - They're great and always recommended but they can get kind of pricey and some people have mixed feelings about them. My brother runs them in a 305/70?r16 but he's not the brightest lol.

Toyo ATII - Don't know much about them.

Cooper AT3 - Don't know much and I can't find them very easily.

That's about my list so far and I am open to any other suggestions as long as they aren't crazy prices or Super Swampers cause they don't fit my needs.

Finally, what are some good places to buy from besides my local shop. I bought my current tires from 4WP.

    Thanks
    Hunter

Oh believe me, I've looked through every one of those threads but most of them are kind of old and I'm trying to get some new opinions. Also, most of them just ended up turning into a mess with the arguing or they didn't give any reasoning behind why they choose a certain tire over another.

I personally think KM 2's look the best. Not an all terrain but they do well at anything under 90 mph. Perform better than anything else I've used off road and they have a surprisingly high life span. Only issue is the highway noise. "Whoop whoop whoop whoop whoop."

Buy some used take-offs if you'r win or near a decent market. I got 4 Michelin AT2 takeoffs brand new for 400 Cdn.

I also got 5 almost new Cooper St Maxx for $50 each.

I only mention this because your budget issues. For the right price, there are all kinds of tires available that would suit your needs. No need to hold out for one in particular. I always see 32" BFG's and other A/T's that Bro's are selling to skyjack their trucks.

Not any louder than BFG KOs or KO2s, i can also say the general grabber at2s are very good tires especially for the price. My dad is on his 3rd set now and swears he will never buy another tire. The toyo ats my friend just put on a ranger he is building and says they ride nice and quite but cant say much more than that as of now.

I have the Kbro2z on my 2016 265/75r16. They do very well off road and when aired down and on pavement in both wet and dry conditions. IDK about snow cus we don't get much of that here in Hawaii :p. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a good AT tire. They get decent MPG and I have a friend who is just changing his out at 60000 miles. He does mostly on-road driving but still, that's pretty awesome if you ask me. I know guys who had the last model of the BFG AT and they lasted 70000+ miles. I know there are mixed feelings about them cus of their older thread pattern ect. But my opinion is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." If you wait for Costco to have them on sale, you can get a $70 dollar off coupon if you buy 4. I did that and they cost me about $830 dollars mounted, lifetime balance and rotation, and with their road hazard warranty. Join us and buy the KBro2s. I don't think you would regret it.

Also, if you really don't want them, the Falken wildpeak AT3W seems to be liked by the people that have them. IDK for sure though cus i never owned them.

Seems like you intentionally left duratracs off your list, why's that? I'm using duratracs in 265/75r16, and other than wishing I had gone for 35s I like them. And they are the best a/t out of all of them in snow. I had bfg ko's before, and these are much better on dirt, wet pavement, and snow. About the same amount of noise. Can't speak to the rest of the tires, but I'm betting they are all pretty good, and if price is the biggest factor, then just get the cheapest ones

    Edited for autocorrect corrections

The only reason I left them off was the pricing. Other than that, I think they look sick. How is the tread life on them? And where would be the best place to buy tires? Also, that's why I was looking at the Kelly's cause they are just cheaper versions of the Duratracs and they also get really good ratings.

I wish I could get some quick tires off of someone used but my area sucks for it. There isn't anywhere close that has a good selection off of craigslist, etc.

Duratracs....Cost difference is offset by great wear and great performance. I've had KO2's and KM2's (on another truck) KO2's are essentially worthless in serious mud. OK, but not outstanding in snow. And while they wear good (by tread depth measurement) traction went away fast as they started to wear. Did not like them on wet roads. KM2's were dangerous on wet or snowy roads with my Dodge.

I'm 35,000+ miles into a set of 265/75/16 load range C Duratracs on my Tacoma. If I do the same size again, no doubt the same tire. (I'm considering a bigger tire in a size not available with Duratracs) Duratracs are excellent snow tires. They are adequate mud tires for an A/T "hybrid". Very good wear characteristics. And they held up just fine to quite a bit of abuse on rocky trails.
