See above pics, I went with the Defenders. :) Yes, they ride very smoothly. However, surprisingly, the Defenders are actually a little louder than the stock Dunlops. Also, they are a little stiffer, but seem to handle better.

Also, did some light Off-Roading the other day with the Michelins. By light, I mean stuff that many of you guys would laugh at... for me, however, I was white-knuckling in 4 lo. Anyway, I never lost traction with the Michelins. They held grip on wet rocks and light mud just fine. That's about as intense as my 4x4 adventures should get (in the foreseeable future). The bonus was having a composed ride back down the mountain pass highway on some cushy All-Seasons! Winning! TW.jpg

There really is no better every day truck tire that I've personally found.

Unlike most all-season (read: no-season) tires these actually do well in the wet and snow.

Glad to see you went with the manly decision of being smart over the teenager decision of buying something stupid to look cute ;) haha

I know you already got the defender, but the AT2 should also be on everyone's radar as a good all season/all terrain tire.

Glad I found this thread -- I have been wondering if everyone's raving about their ATs because folks are actually wheeling their trucks all the GD time. That being said, I'm still pretty torn on All Seasons vs AT...

I have had ltx a/t2 on for about 40,000 miles. Still lots of tread left. I have never had problems with traction in the wet or snow. But I don't do any serious off reading. Just fire roads.

Welp, the more time I'm spending with the Defenders, the more I'm pleased with my choice. I just don't do enough driving off road to justify anything else, and these are supposed to be good in the snow as well (I should have a snow report soon). For forest service roads, these are plenty enough.

On pavement, these feel very composed and sure footed. I had a little emergency maneuver the other day when someone pulled out of a driveway in front of me, and I had to swerve. The wheels dug in well and directed the truck exactly where I wanted to go. Not sure if it would have been different with any other tires, but I do know it wasn't an issue with these. Also, I've noticed it's much harder for me to get my rear wheels spinning in the rain as opposed to the stock Dunlops, which I could get spinning on demand.

Just hoping for an update on the tires. Cheers.

Love the tires! Got some quality time driving around in the snow; never needed to take it out of 2hi. Still impressed with how well they grip the road. Can't get the rear wheels spinning, unless I make a deliberate effort to floor it in the rain. Feels a bit stiffer than the stock Dunlops, but very confident and tracks straight on the highway. No issues towing a medium load. Cheers!

Just the essentials and no extra fluff.
I would suggest dedicated winter tires on you factory wheels and some all terrain tires on your aftermarket wheels. I don't have any suggestions for dedicated winter tires for the truck, but I have Michelin X-ice tires on my Honda and have used Bridgestone Blizzaks in the past. I am a fan of Cooper Tires for my truck and currently have a set of ST Maxx. I think they are much better than the KO2.
