Anything that has a super agressive mud tire tread is going to be noisy compared to normal street tires. I also have the same concerns as you do, but I love the look of a good AT tire, and also live in the snow belt, so I did some research on this. The tire I keep hearing come up over and over is what Ram is shipping from the factory on the new Ram Rebel, which is the Toyo Open Country AT. It is a very nice looking tire, but apparently very quiet as well. In the reviews of the Ram Rebel, most reviewers said there was little to no extra road noise from these.

Anyone mention the Load D Duratracs? Had them on my 4runner and was very pleased.

Going with Nitto G2's as well once my stock tires wear out... Aggressive look and feel of an AT without the load range E size and weight.

General Grabber AT2 P-rated. Super quite, soft smooth ride, traction when you'll need it, and lower cost.. I had them in all kind of conditions and they did well.

Here's a couple of pics when I had them.

I have the toyo at2's. I personally haven't felt a ride difference with them. Can't hear them at all either. I'm on my second set.. I couldn't be happier.

yes - they came stock on my current 2014 Off Road - great off road in mud - do make a little noise but nothing bad . when 2016 sport 4x4 comes in - am replacing with Goodrich rugged terrain T/A
I could get stuck in my backyard with the street tiers that come standard on Sport

Lots of good suggestions here, thank you.

I settled on the Rugged Terrain and I'm happy on day 1. I need a week to be sure. :) They are quiet and have 90-95% of the ride quality of the Michelin LTX M/S2 that came on it.
