I have run 3 sets of Cooper discoverers, love the tire don't have a complaint with them just wanting to try something more aggressive. Have any of y'all ran the Cooper discoverer St maxx? Or have any other ideas

I have ST Maxx on my 2004 Tacoma, my favorite tire so far. Previous two sets were both KO2s so it's not like I've tried a bunch lol. I liked those too but they chunked up too easily. The STMaxx don't chunk up and wear evenly. I daily my truck and offroad it quite a bit, got about 20k miles on them now and figure I'll get another 10 - 15k out of them personally, just because I don't like offroading with tires that have really worn tread. They still look great at 20k though.

    I have them in 255/85r16

    Tasteful modifications :)
I run kuhmo road venture at51’s on my 97 and they’re overall a super good tire. Good traction on snow and hardly any noise when driving highway. They’re not super aggressive, but they’re overall good tires that I have no complaints about so far. Also not super expensive tires. Def an upgrade from geolanders haha

33s...and even then you will likely need to trim the pinch weld back quite a bit depending on your wheels. I had to on mine, also had to push my caster to 3˚ so the wheels are more forward. That finally got rid of the rubbing, though it sometimes rubs the frame when turned and stuffed.

Anything bigger than 33s and you're going to have to do more than trimming (cutting and tubbing).

    Cooper fanboi here!

Best set I've had were E range Disco AT3s on my Tundra. Drove like an entirely different (better) vehicle with those heavier tires.

    That is all.

Lift doesn't determine clearance nearly as much as the wheel and tire specs. Listen to @eon_blue

    4 run, 2 don't
Personally running Falken Wildpeak A/T3W and I both daily and off road my setup.

    They're 235/85/16 so they're 10 ply.

They're wearing evenly, they're not noisy at all and even at the typical 37psi I run them at, they don't beat me up like others claim when running e range tires.

May give Coopers a go when I go up in tire size but so far, I've been really happy with my Falkens.

I like this thread. I need to replace my S/T Maxx since they are getting used up and losing air daily (1-2 lbs). have had them for over 4 years and they first two years were great, but they started "slowly" losing a bit here and there. Even had them popped and re-stemmed and re-balanced.

been lookin at the Falken's but in a P265 for mostly street use (don't want an E rated due to weight) and the compound and all around traction and weather rating have me 90% convinced they are my next tire. I considered the BFG KO2 but can't bring myself to spend the money on a lower rated tire :(

now that you mention that, I've noticed that with mine too. Not always but occasionally I'll check them and one or two will be several PSI under the others even though there are no signs of leaks, no punctures, etc.

Since I easily do more highway driving than off-road I went with the AT3 XLTs, but gotta say they've been pretty great so far. Otherwise only have experience with BFG and Toyo, but so far the Coopers are my favorite.

I have the maxx’s in 255/85-16 which is a skinny 33” tire. They are the quietest tire I’ve run/heard in this aggressive of a tread pattern. Big fan of these over my prior km2s

One of the tires on my 4runner is like that. I’ve got Dunlop AT20’s (factory), and it slowly looses air. I even took it off and sprayed soapy water all over it trying to find the leak. Nothing. It takes about 6 weeks or so to loose 5 or 8 psi.

Huh. One or two of mine do that too. But they're Wild Country XTX (supposedly, a cooper brand). I chalk it up to leaking around the bead due to my horrifically corroded wheels, but I haven't been able to prove it via soap.
