Well here in Ontario we usually get piles of snow and the past couple of years my Duratracs have worked flawlessly! I wouldn't go with any other winter A/T out there now since i've drove on these. I'm so happy with them i already sold my 32" duratracs to my buddy and i'll be upgrading to a 33" Duratrac this winter.

So I'd like to go with the Duratracs, but they don't come in a 32. I don't think I could fit 33's on my ~ 2 inch lift. The BFG a/t's come in a 32 so I am considering them. I've been reading about the Falken wildpeak a/t's. They look to be pretty good tires and they come in the size I want. research research research...

Duratracs are definitely the best tire I have ran in the winter. I find bfg ATs don't clean that well and you end up on slicks. You can always spin them clean, but I will always be running Duratracs in the snow.

BFG ATs have done just fine here in Reno/Tahoe for me.

I liked my Duratracs though too.

I would have three recommendations. The BFG AT's as everyone as well as the Duratracs that everybody has recommended. But another trire that we have on two of our trucks is the Big-O Big Foot AT's The have done pretty well so far. I would recommend these tires to any friend for a good snow tire.

BFG ATs are great snow tires and are good all around tires as well. I had em on my 1st gen for 9 years (2 different sets) and never got a flat once!

All right, I'm now trying to decide between the Duratrac and the SilentArmor's. I'm a little worried about the mileage on the Duratracs. I haven't found a whole lot of good mileage reviews.

Sam, listen to a Canadian when you want to know what works in snow!

I wasn't going to reply because I have only been in the snow a couple times with my Hankook Dynapro ATMs, but they worked amazingly well, for an all terrain tire...

What was impressive was their self-cleaning thread... BFG All Terrain TAs do not self clean mud very well at all.

I have 24,000 miles on my Dynapros now.

I don't think they are the BEST A/T in snow , from what others have said , there are better choices , but they are a good all round performer and are better in snow than my Hankook MT's were

I had two sets of Silent Armors, one for my tacoma & one for my Tundra.

    The taco's were P245/75/16s
    The tundras were P275/65/18s.

Now on the tacoma I really liked the tires & did run them one winter but decided to go with dedicated snow tires after using them towing in the mountains.
We see much more black ice/heavy slush or ice pack.
I needed a softer compound to deal with those conditions.
That set did serve me well for the most part which is why I decided to get them for the tundra.
The second set I bought were not as good & could not get them to balance. I had a thread on here on all the trouble I had with the tire shop
Also last winter it was freakishly non-existant. Maybe I should have went with the pro grade but ended up selling them.
Now have BFG AT KOs E rated and love them on the heavier tundra.
Kept my steelies so will run again winter dedicated tires.
I would not hesistate to buy another set if I had a tacoma & probably did not tow in winter time.

How would you sort them from best to worst after your prefered Duratracs. Reason I'm asking is I currently have Geolandars and Duratracs, BFGs, Hankooks, and General AT2 are on my shopping list for next time.

Since there isn't too much info on Geolandars here on TW just curious how would you compare them to Duratracs. Geolandar vs Duratrac?

Im looking into getting some Hankook Dynapro ATM's for the winter/spring. Whats a good size for a stock truck (doesnt need to be max that will fit)? I want to put them on my stock steel wheels if possible.

The 265/75/16 and 265/70/17 (depending on wheel size) both work well on stock 2nd gen pickups .

I ran the BFgoodrich TKOs and they were unreal in the snow. Best tires I ever used. But when the ice would hit they are not soft enough to use. Fish tailed a few times out of nowhere going 60kms/hour and almost crashed. So I buy just cheaper winters and run them on steelies and run them in the cold months. Saves the BFs too so they last longer
