Well the least they could have done was put it on the hood as well......lol. You got a good deal because the other dealerships I looked when I was looking at the Sport were charging way more than that for paint protection.

Any idea if the Manual Trans Trucks are built in Texas or Mexico?

all the ones I've heard of are Texas trucks, including mine. VIN begins with a 5, instead of a 3 for Mexico trucks.

I know there is another thread out here for TSB updates but I'm curious if all the TRDPro 17's have the latest rev levels installed and some of the minor issues resolved. Is anyone still experiencing these issues with the 17s'?

I totally agree with SnowFarmer. I knew what I was getting into when I finally found mine fresh of the delivery truck from Philadelphia. The salesman that answered the phone had no idea that a Tacoma TRD PRO was even offered??? I placed a $500 credit card deposit over the phone and drove it home the next morning.
I have owned two early 90s Toyota 4x4 trucks and loved them for how reliable, cheap to own and excellent resale value. Take good care of these trucks and they will line up to buy it from you when you are ready to cut her loose.
    * Needs a panoramic roof (doesn't even have to open just be large and let in light to make the cab feel spacious)
    * Needs Power seats (when you pay $45k this should be standard with leather seats)
    * Needs the V8 (If your calling it a Pro it needs to be different and it would allow Toyota to have a legit race truck for Stock Class Baja Racing)
    * Needs a wider wheel and tire package to go with the upgraded Fox suspension
    * Needs 4 wheel disc brakes (Lets be honest Toyota it's 2017 and every high end truck and car on the Road has rear discs)
I love having a truck that not everyone else has and the bonus reliability and fun to drive. I have yet to see a TRD Pro on the road so I hope they stay rare. Who knows maybe Toyota will stop making them after this year? Yeah right, with my luck they will probably mass produce them now since so many people are buying the Pro parts.

Biggest complaint with my truck is the breaks. Example: When I am traveling 50mph and I begin to slow down for say, a red light, the break pedal begins to pulsate as soon as I hit 25mph down to about 5mph as if the rotors are warped! It's so annoying. I took it to the dealer and they said "the breaks are fine"? A service writer and mechanic drove it and told me "it does feel different but it's probably the Pro's tires and suspension". Are you serious? My buddy has a 2016 TRD OR and his do not do the same thing. I don't known what to do. I guess just deal with it or take it to another dealership. In my opinion they don't want to spend the money on replacing the rotors to see if they fixes the problem so they just play stupid! If it gets any worse I will probably have too many miles and they will just tell me that breaks are not covered under warranty!

Just checked and all rear spring U bolts were properly toqued at 52 ft/lbs from the factory.

After off-roading, I had some squeaks (from leaf springs I think). Seemed to have went away after a good under-carriage wash.

    Currently at 2,500 miles.

    I can afford Gas.
Hit 5000 miles today. There iss something loose behind the dash, it annoys me to no end. Its intermittent. Other than that. Its been a good truck.

Edit: I saw a Forerunner yesterday with disc on the rear? What gives, how come our trucks didnt get disc brakes? Has anyone done a swap?

I read this two months ago when I questioned it.

Mike Swears needs a lesson in driving and technology, regardless who he works for. Disc brakes are superior to drum brakes 99.99% of the time. The Tacoma only can tow a small amount, its not like we are trying to tow something twice our size. This is misdirection so they didn't have to put disc brakes on a vehicle they knew they should have but screwed up.

Additionally most owners don't buy a company's top of the line vehicle that has leather heated seats, special exhaust, blind spot monitoring and then pay a premium on top of it all. Put drum brakes on the SR5 if you are so worried about it. The audacity he has to think I am going to tow anything over 3000 pound shows hes a moron. If was going to tow anything of any size I wouldnt have purchased a Tacoma. I got a Tacoma so I could have a Zippy little truck. If I wanted to tow something on a regular basis, it wouldnt be gas powered.

I say this guy is an idiot and I would kick him in the plums for being one.

Rattle sound is the front passenger pillar rubbing against the dash. A thread is going about this, may be your issue as well. It was with mine.

As for the forerunner disc, don't care, bought my truck know it had drums.

I have the same, BR in MT, what sucked was how difficult toyota made it to see the features you miss out on in the manual. The AT has hill assist, push start, smart remote, and some other things. I was upset because they never mentioned that I'd be missing out on these things when getting a manual trd pro. You would expect the top level trim to have everything. I mean I get why the multi terrain select and crawl control only comes in the AT, but no push start, hill assist, smart key, no power seats doesn't make sense. I am having some issues tho. My pro is currently in the service department for 2 misfires. They pulled 10 error codes. It also makes a clunky metal sound when shifting in 1st gear. I have condensation in my fog lights too. Just hit 1400 miles. Other than that, I love my truck. 20161224_164319.jpg 20161226_142941.jpg 20161226_142945.jpg 20161230_101928.jpg 20161224_235027.jpg

Hey guys, any body else getting terrible mpgs in the cold? Averaging 12-13mpg rn... But then again it's been hovering around -5 to 5 degrees the past few weeks. -23 actual temp on Thursday! . I was getting closer to 20mpg when it was 50-60 degrees in November. Any way too boost my mpgs? Currently sitting around 2700miles on my pro.
