I think thats an accurate assessment, I'm definitely over biked for my local trails at 155 rear travel but really I can't complain about the climbing ability here in new england. I'll get a shorter travel bike over the winter to complement the instinct.

I really like the design of the EVOC, but do those things on top really help at all?

Yeah they do. There are straps that go in those recessed areas to strap your bike down. I can get a better pic tonight when I get home. One of the strap location and one with the tailgate flap folded under. You can run it the way that picture shows, or fold that flap under the pad so your tailgate handle and camera are always showing.

Goes on the steer tube, it’s the interface between the fork and headset, it’s cheap, Im not sure how compatibility work, you might be able to take it from your current fork and swap it.

Didn’t see your post early enough, but the inside is just a 6” flap that hangs over the back and has the three attachment buckles for the straps. It’s just flat, no bike frame spacers like on the top.

Don’t worry those photos were perfect. It looks good, seems to be mostly out of stock right now though. May just end up getting the race face.

haha well I was actually heading out for a ride when I typed that, and my pre-workout was kicking in, so I made it short. My buddy lives in NorCal so we have met up and camped a spot to ride the following morning. The dirt comes from off-roading to the camp site. I don’t know any secret trails... yet. I’m searching though, and making friends at the trails to find them.

    speaking of riding today...

Single track starts at the water tower and winds down to the service road for 100yards, then picks back up. It was a little toasty but overall a great ride. Even got a bunch of new PRs! Heading back out tomorrow morning for a Luge run.

and Left sides need love too

I will also add, the newer bomber straps sold now include an extra strap to secure the handlebars to the top tube so they keep a 90 degree turn.

They’re super rad but could never justify the cost. They cost just as much as the full length pads lol.
