Sounds good, man. I'll look for that number; and, if nothing else, I can just pick your brain on where to go. My skills and fitness are moderate, but I can hang on most black diamond trails if I take my time.

Yup. In hindsight I probably should have gone with a single since I ride solo 98% of the time. But I like the extra carrying capacity the double afforded me as I know I’ll still have this rack when my kids are old enough to be riding with me.

The double also lets me leave my bike on the outer most tray and still open/close my tailgate and topper door without lowering the tray.

Sunrise sets in the desert are a damn fine way to start the weekend. They're also the only way to ride in Arizona in August without dying...lol

If people use metal tire irons on enduro bikes do you guys see anything wrong with using my moto tire irons? Maybe just wrap where it will touch rim with gorilla tape?

Just test rode a Ripmo AF , new 5010, and SB130. First time on any 29er.

First Impression: I’ve been missing out. 29er feels great!

Ripmo AF felt like a tank, but loved how it felt and rode. Kinda feel like it may be a little overkill for 70% of riding but the DW Links are so efficient anyway and the frame seems bulletproof. Good for park days too

Hopped on new 5010 next and was like holy shit these wheels/bike is too small. Granted, total different geometry and riding position always makes it feel different from another but I felt like the 5010 was wayyyy too small j in n every aspect. Very playful though and felt “at home” with how I could control the bike more than the Ripmo.

SB130 - what a fuckin beaut. This bike felt the most amazing, however I can’t justify 5+k for a bike right now.

Good morning checking out some sexy ass bikes.

Ok I’m trying to think this through.

trying to find a 1st gen tundra is tough, but if I find the right one it’s looking to be about 10 grand to get it, just based on market value. And sell my 4runner for 2500-3k.

then I wouldn’t need a hitch rack for the bike.

that being said, I can put some love into my 98 4runner, get a hitch rack, get a trailer to allow for hauling stuff as needed to replace having a truck bed. All of this I’d estimate 2500-3k as well.

so basically tundra is a 5k difference from keeping and making the 4runner work.

I want either vehicle to function mainly for camping/biking purposes.

thoughts? You’re all mountain bikers so you’re a smart group of folks to think about this with.

I like the pickup, but the cheapest vehicle is the one you've got. Plus, you can always use the interior of the 4runner for added security and protection from the elements.

Yeah, but fitting a bike inside would still be a challenge. You'd have to get a topper to get the same kind of security and protection from the elements. And as you said, there's that $5k difference too.

Ah you meant specifically bike security. I don’t plan to have to stick the bike inside. I can take the front wheel off and make that happen if necessary.

yes it would be basically at most 5k difference. Because I can avoid needing things for the 4runner and I can sell the 4runner.

Just in the little I've talked to you it seems like you want the Tundra and if that's the case, I say go for it. But why not a Tacoma if the 4Runner works? They're largely the same platform as far as I know. We've got a 4Runner and a Tacoma and they both have their purposes.

Little bit small in the cab space, and I’d like a longer bed/v8. I hate the lol of a long bed Tacoma personally.

Can't really argue with you there, although I do kind of wish I had the 6' bed with my double cab.

If that's what you want, go for it! No one knows your needs as well as you do!

Lol yeah, I know that feeling. Just depends on your justification. My GMC Canyon still ran and drove, but it had some minor issues and rust, so I traded it in before it got worse and have been happy with my Tacoma. Definitely a want, but I'm very happy.

Pretty much sums up what 99% of people who ride a modern 29r feel.

Keep the 'Runner, get a new bike. Easy.
