Rode down to the ATM this morning and my chain snapped. May keep it and repair link, but figured I would just replace it. Going to REI in a bit if they’re open.

That formula must be for skinny bois, because that puts me at 31 up front and 33 out back. I’m a heavy (not fat) boi and that seems like way too much. I’m at 24 up front and 26 out back on the Slash and it seems perfect.

I did not know they were that heavy. I was just thinking about the extra protection. I ride a lot of rocky rooty trails. Blue ridge mountains is the range I ride in if that helps. I thought if the extra protection cause the last set of tires the side was gave out on. But that probably because they were 2 years old. Would exo dhf/dhr be more tolerable without the lagging uphill?

Nice looking bike. All the bike shops around me have very limited stock. Depending on your area, I’d say the market is probably in your favor.

Maybe a little bit. the exo+ is like 80-100 grams more heavy and it gives you better protection from punctures in comparison to exo. The type of riding I do, I'd take exo+ as a minimum.

Also, your tread compound would make a big difference as well. 3c maxxgripp will drag you down in comparison to a 3c maxxterra. but also the 3c will drag you more than non-3c.

With my newly learned tire knowledge I might shop around for some more uphill friendly tires. I ride rocky terrain so don’t want something to slick but I also don’t want to feel like I’m dragging a boat anchor up the mountain. I had the high rollers before and liked them. Went out on a limb with the dhf/dhr combo.

the minion twins are excellent all-mountain/enduro tires. Very grippy and great for downhill. They'll really work up your fitness for the uphills. :D Try looking at the Aggressor and Dissectors. they might be a good compromise for yah.

$2500 for that bike is extremely reasonable. If you were near Philadelphia I would buy it in a heartbeat. As recently as a month ago used bikes were going for above msrp around here.

Well, that's the information I've got. And no, I'm not building up a Walmart bike. I learned the hard way why walmart bikes are junk lol.

Out of curiosity, what coil would you recommend?

I think they may be overkill for the terrain you ride. They’re great for jagged desert rocky areas such as Arizona but the Blue Ridge Mountains from what I know have more rounded smoother rocks.

I'm a huge fan of specialized Eliminator tires. I run front and back on my Enduro and doesn't feel like a dog when climbing.
