Man it’s a reality check when you get a PR on Strava for a section with a time of 2:27 thinking you’re hauling ass, like a bit scared blasting through...

then check the leaderboard...and some freak of nature has done it in 0:52 seconds

is he on a ROCKET?! WTF

Strava has a lot of glitches, but some people are really fast.

It's all about the taint valley

I try to limit only my cheek bones touching the saddle, no grundle exposure. I'm terrified of ED issues when I get old

I’ve noticed that with MPH, because no way I do a trail at 35+mph lol. But it’s multiple folks near that guys time so I’m thinking it’s real.

My seat does not have a valley like that. More of the pain is just to the sides of the taint though, guessing the inside of the sit bones

It def seems to serve a purpose, if that purpose is numb you so you just feel nothing until it wears off.

I ended up on a Wasatch Crest shuttle once with Cody Kelly and some of his friends not long ago. I still am trying to figure out how humans can ride a bike that fast and not die.

I’m not subscribed to strava but it appears this guy went 35.4 mph on a section I went 14.5mph on. I don’t even know how. 0.5 miles technical downhill section I did in 2:27, my buddy did in 2:17....pretty sure I could get my time close to 2:00 but this guy is another level at 0:52

It was a Strava glitch. If you click on his run that day you will quickly see he was on a road bike. If the route is close enough to a road, Strava’s margin of error will align you to the closest segment.

Like others have said, get the sitbone measurement done to see if you need a wider/narrower saddle. I had one done when I got a fit on my road bike awhile back and it helped with that.

Some of it is also conditioning and getting used to it. I typically will only use chamois butter for longer rides (2 hours+ or so). I think early on when I first started riding I noticed it more; now 3-4 times a week up to 2 hours each ride and never any issues.

You could also look at trying out some different chamois - not all of them are equally good.
