Little of both. I have ridden 12 speeds and feel like I have more juice left after the climb. Where as with my 11 I’m wore out. I know that has nothing to do with the drivetrain that it is more my lack of fitness.

I’m kinda like @honda50r, 11spd is bomber. Just replace your shifter and ride on.

If you still have the itch to upgrade the drivetrain and other stuff (which you’ll have to upgrade hubs if you go 12spd shimano anyway), then do so and sell off the old bits to offset some of the cost. Or tally up the total expense it’ll cost you to upgrade all your desired parts and compare that expense to the cost of the new trance. Decide accordingly.

I did not know that I would have to upgrade the hub. Thats a whole other ball game. Thanks for the insight.

Doesn't look like my replacement chain links will make it here in time - we're going out of town on Monday and will be up near Almanor. Oh well...Happy Friday?

Haha, I could, but the other stuff I ordered isn't returnable. Guess it wouldn't be the end of the world to buy more stuff and just have extra.

I think companies should be forced to wait 2 years between bike releases...

    I love this bike..

Is that a split pivot? I rode a merely identical bike last weekend...

Park bikes are making a comeback

It’s pretty funny how park/free ride bikes seem to have gone away for a while and now they are making a big comeback

If they could just figure out how to steepen the seat tube angle so that pedaled decent, ass way behind the BB doesn't lend itself to the best pedaling dynamics

I’ve never ridden one of those bikes but I imagine it does suck. The grim donut was definitely an interesting experiment on that though. Minus the stupid long wheelbase it seemed that the stupid steep seat tube was beneficial

I'm a big fan of this, it has 78.5 ST angle.

However I get lost in the numbers, my capra has like 75-76 and it pedals as well as i know any bike can.
I try not to get too caught up with numbers since I'm the biggest aspect of the bikes speed.

Basically a steeper sea tube allows a better climbing position whereas slack seat tube allows shorter chainstays

@abacall can probably chime in better on this, too.

I try not to get hung up on geometry either but STA is the most noticeable in my opinion

Has anyone ever tried the 54T upgrade with DT Swiss hubs? Was going from 18 to 54 worth the $120?

I'm used to much more POE than what came with my Spur, so I'm trying to figure out the best option to upgrade without breaking my bank.

    not enough.
I went with the 54T. Granted, I was lucky and DT swiss was running a promo when I was looking for a new rear hub. so I got the ratchet upgrade for free.

That said, I went from a 3 pawl design to the 54T and itw as a noticeable nicer feel on the trial...for me. I can stutter step better and have better pedaling dynamics for my riding.
My next build has an I9 Hydra so I'm excited to try that one out once i get it built.

Buddy of mine did it and liked it, but he blew up the hub on his first or second ride. DT Swiss warrantied it with a non upgraded hub and he decided not to upgrade again. I think he's gonna go with something else eventually.
