Anyone have any first hand experience with the VelociRax bike rack. It looks amazing to me. But really looking for some first hand reviews. Or if anyone knows of anything in particular to watch for when looking at a 4 or more bike rack that hangs the bikes. The only thing I can see is that it is heavy. But that is also I sign that it is built strong, hopefully. My 4 bike tray was heavy, but had it weak spot. I know because two of the front tire arms failed. One of which costing my bike. But gave me the excuse to by my dream bike. But now I definitely don't want to loose it when we go on longer trips with the whole family. For short trips I just put one in the bed and 2 one the Kuat NV 2.0 Base. The wife doesn't really ride local unless it is from the house. It is just the kids and I going to the hills or one buddy and I. So the Kuat works great for in town, but we we go on a trip the wife wants hers too so I need a new 4 bike rack and don't want to get the extension for the Kuat and make it heavy and a PITA to take off and on all the time. So if anyone else has any other recommendations please let me know. Also would love to be able to put it on the back of my camper. Thanks.

I saw a few of those velocirax in moab recently. They look like the best vertical option out there to me, though I don't have any direct experience with them.

If you're going 4 or less I still think 1up is the best option out there.

I think some of these Californians may give me MSRP plus shipping for my bike :fingerscrossed:

I'll just eat PP fees, which still lose $100 with a good bit of learning on first bike.
Crazy with the market we're in, there's quite a few thinking it over on Pinkbike.

I feel your pain but you have probably been there riding before.

I have been to Sedona 5 times without my bike because of the family. Now I don't live so close and I regret those decisions very much. I won't get to ride all that much in Moab but at least I'll get to sample the goods.

In the midst of all the bike shortages going on I managed to score a new Trek Checkpoint SL5, its been easier to get out and hit the dirt roads then getting to the trail and this just came along at the exact right time (I think I got to the shop the week it arrived to them). So far I've got a couple hundred miles on it. Never imagined I'd buy a road(ish);) bike.
I'm really impressed with the GRX shifters, they make me want to upgrade the XTs on my Rocky Mtn. Altitude0827201829.jpg

I've seen them all over the place. They're actually built here in UT. they're good looking racks and they have a little hydraulic arm to help you swing/tilt the rack back and forth as you need to. I haven't heard anything negative about the velocirax specifically but i know that sometimes the tire carriers do get worn down. But that's why velocirax is so beefy. I have heard of people takign tie downs or bungees to keep their tires in places on the tire holding vertical racks. I thinkt hey're just so new that nobody has found anything wrong with them just yet.

Yeah, that is another thing that I like about them. I can just drive down and pick it up rather than having to ship something so heavy. They look super nice. I like how it can be folded down and used in "camp mode" and comes with the wall attachment to have it be used while it is being stored in the garage. Cause storing a rack not on the vehicle can take up a ton of space in a garage also. And since the 4 bike and 5 bike are only $20 difference and the only difference is the size of the gap between the bikes I figured I would just get the 5 bike version incase I needed to help a friend and haul an extra or something. But yes, they are very new to the scene. Thank you for the feedback though.

You think the road construction is making it seem worse or maybe Covid?

No. The traffic in/out of town has always been bad, when it was basicially just 2 lanes and some lights. trying to come into town in the afternoon was always a recipe for disaster. I was referencing things like camping, parking, and store patronage.

It’s because they were closed in the spring. Everyone’s back and on break, and determined to make the most of it.

Admittedly, I’m one of those people. Our Crested Butte plans got shat on so we are going a little further out West to recreate.

Oh yea, it was mayhem both weekends, but much worse this weekend than last weekend. We have a friend that has lived there 13 years. She said this weekend was the busiest she's ever seen it; first time she's ever heard of a long line to get in to canyonlands. Apparently it took an hour to get in Saturday.

The construction definitely makes it worse. It can get backed up coming in/out of town, but I've never seen full bumper to bumper traffic all the way past arches. It took an hour to get from arches to the river. All the trailheads were mayhem too though.

It's supposed to get cooler now, so maybe it'll calm down. We're planning to go back in November once my wife's wrist is ready for action.

New here, (first Tacoma) but digging this thread.

I just finished a 3 day bikepacking trip here in Colorado. Starting and ending in Buena Vista, we camped at O’Haver and Pitkin Campgrounds and road over Alpine Tunnel to St. Elmo. Epic route that I would 100% recommend. I ride a lot of gravel and MTB around Boulder County, and man does my gravel bike look bright next to my Cement Taco.
