Bottom of the chain stay kinda next to the bottom pivot. It's a Niner Rip 9 and ya definitely gonna stop in at my local shop and have it checked out before I hit the trails again.

I tend to err on the side of caution, but that looks fine to me. I'm sure Niner put in some beefy carbon layup on that chain stay since it's in the line of fire.
I rode a cracked carbon frame for a bit. Probably three times bigger, right under the BB from a big rock strike. No issues since it was a super thick section.
Im not saying it won't fail, it might. But I'd just keep riding it and keep an eye on it. If it starts to get bigger, or change, I'd send it out to get repaired. You can usually tell if it needs to be repaired when the carbon feels a bit soft, like it's got some give.
Repaired cabon is actually stronger than it was when it started. Kinda like a broken bone, the extra material that's used to repair it makes it stronger.

Just got done with a Rush lap in Corner Canyon, which Ive ridden a thousand times over the last 5 years, but today was one of those days where the work stress got uncorked, the combined stoke of my coworker and I was high, and the conditions were just perfect. The drug that keeps us coming back!

This is embarrassing, but I have the ultimate soft spot for those Vitus 979s. At one point I had an anodized blue 56cm, anodized red 58cm, and painted-white 58cm. I gave the blue one away after putting like 20,000 miles on it. These old 80's bikes are still kicking a lot of ass. My red one weighs like 16.5 lbs or so and crushes all the local nerds on their Shivs when we get to the big hills.

Dude, don't get me started. I almost bought my grad school girlfriend a purple one with the yellow decals. But I married her and got her a modern bike because she's a modern girl.

My buddy completely blew up his new rear carbon wheel on a rock a few days ago and he’s still out riding on it. Carbon is pretty damn strong. A frame may be a different story but that chip/crack looks tiny. Keep sending it

Oh that's smaller than I thought based on the first pic. I'd ride it and keep an eye on it. I'd probably get a bit of epoxy on the spot if nothing else to keep the paint from chipping more with any impact.

OK, I change my answer now that Merrick put the macro lens away. Toss some epoxy on it and it should be fine. It looked way more serious in pic 1.
