Having parking lot tested both myself... they both seem stout.

 

i've seen the alta racks around. haven't used one myself. I've had my bike on a velocirax and wouldn't hesitate to use it again.

Both seemed stout and sturdy enough. :shrug: oh well. I don't think you can go wrong with either, honestly.

I’m not in that good of shape. However rental car for a full size new Ford Fusion is only $480 a week through Costco. It’s the hotel parking that gets you.

 

Great. So I won’t be able to ride again this week so I rode two days in a row. I swear this happened right as I was about to come off the trail at the truck.

if my truck was not my daily driver, I would have one of those Alta Racks

I just use my good old Kryptpnite U locks...run it through the back wheel, and across the bottom tray. If I have more than 2 bikes on, I also add a few pretty thick cable locks woven willy-nilly through the bikes, and held together with the U locks. It won't completely prevent some one who is intent on stealing, but I am lucky that I live in a part of the country where people would not know the difference between my Surly Krampus and a Wally world bike...I can leave my bikes on the truck in most situations here in town, and have even left them on overnight in front of the house

plus, everyone is afraid of full rigid steel, so I am safe that way too
