Oh, i'm not riding due to schedule. Busy times.. I honestly thought about a small wrap of gorilla tape while waiting on a new spoke instead of breaking down wheel just to remove it lol.

That would work or you can tie the broken spoke around the others

Yeah I'm not sure on that one - I don't do my own wheel stuff I tend to make it worse. I just take my blown-up wheels to the shop and they call in a few days saying it's ready for pickup ha

I loved my Alta Rack. I ended up getting rid of it because I moved up to SLC from Provo and all my buddies here actually like to pedal vs shuttling stuff. I really liked the design and supporting a local biz feels pretty good.

Downside of ANY shuttle rack is that they are HUGE. When it's on the back, you add 3 feet to your truck all the time, and when you take it off, you now have a large piece of scaffolding you need to do something with.

Do the Alta's have a wall rack like the other brand with similar hanging vertical design (errr the name is escaping!)

I know what you describe. They didn't last I checked, but you could easily buy the competitors wall mount since its all just a 2in square tube.

i can still ship them to you if i have the same size.

i dont recall how much it was to get it from dt swiss (like 4 years ago). it may have been 10-15 dollars for around 10 spokes.

i'll be sure to check when i get home. pretty sure i know where they are

idk what these numbers mean to be honest. I’ll need to call DTSwiss and see what they say.

I'd say so... Sky Park is more a laid-back vibe relaxed vibe over Summit IMO

Every trail has a ride around or is 100% rollable... Except for "comet" which has a bunch of nasty silty chunk and skinnies

There is Snow valley now up there too...

I have this vision of an Epic MTB weekend that will likely never happen... Snow Valley Friday afternoon, camp at skypark camp ground. Hit up Skypark Saturday , Camp somewhere in Big Bear Saturday night then Sunday hit Snow Summit.

I said that aloud when I saw his post. haha... RUNNNN ITTTTT

Spoke length... in millimeters. It's a measurement and skill any serious rider should understand, at a minimum.

Bold statement. Not saying your wrong, just feel like most riders (serious or not) wouldn’t be able to rattle off the appropriate spoke length of their current wheelset.

Could be I’m just not as serious as I thought I was :notsure:

I'm not implying that every rider should know how to lace/re-lace a wheel, but any rider should understand the physics of spoke tensioning and/or how to deal with it when shit goes pear-shaped in the backcountry (no pun intended). Re-lacing and re-tensioning wheels isn't sorcery and doesn't require a dedicated wheel stand... can be done on bike so long as you have a fixed point on the frame from which to measure a true point to the rim and where to apply torque to the nipple or spoke.

admittedly i was working at a bike shop when i needed to make that repair, so i was able to ask the guys there any specifics before ordering.

it may be easiest to pop into a shop and see if they could swap it out. it wouldn't take more than 30 minutes and a single spoke replacement may be around $20.

yea its cheaper to buy 20 spokes and replace it yourself, but only if you know they will work
