I don't think my hip flexors are bad since I actually do stretch those a lot. I used to get really bad lower back pain while riding until I regularly did hip flexor stretches. I'd say those are pretty good now.

I do need to work on some extension and work on my pecs more. I try to stretch my pecs in a doorway when I remember. I also need to actually make time for yoga...I felt amazing back when I did yoga 2-4 times a week for 15 minutes.

I'm not sure what the water jet leg things are but I've used the normatec leg compression sleeves and all I can say is I did a 5k trail race at like 10:14 min/mile, a month later it was down to 9:17 min/mile. Relative effort according to strava was about the same at 71 vs 76 (the second race did have slightly more elevation gain).

I did 3 or 4 sessions of compression therapy the week before race 2. Not saying these compression therapy machines are magic but I think its worth doing more research on my end....I just wish they weren't pushing $1000 haha

i misunderstood the water jet leg things. they are air compression like the normatec.

i have normal compression socks, but the sleeves look pretty interesting. really though, i should stretch and do yoga post rides or at least a couple days a week.

Compression socks feel good too, I think it is a similar idea. the sleeves are just more intense. It feels pretty weird tbh.

There are some machines that I believe use cold compression too, not sure if it's water or air but I think its a similar idea.

Most underrated form of exercise, in my opinion. My day is lots of meetings, so I try to take at least one meeting call a day while walking. When I used to spend most of my day doing analysis work at a desk, I would take a walk during my lunch break and eat actual lunch at my desk before/after.

Upside of working in industrial manufacturing, but in management. I go for a walk all over the plant, get away from my desk, and still counts as "work"

I was a foreman while building a new jail. It had seven different pods. I walked about 15km/day with little effort. I hated sitting in the office. The other foreman was more than happy to stay in there all day. Worked well.

My wife is a surgeon. Some days she stands all day and some days she sits most of the day. She was starting to feel pretty crappy about it. Now she actually takes a lunch break when she's in the office and walks for a bit.... Between surgeries she'll walk around the outside of the hospital and take care of some of her dictations at the same time. She says she feels a lot better and is less fatigued at the end of the day even while doing more physical work.

I also bought her some compression socks for Christmas. She says the nurses swear by them during long cases.

Now I have a bit more freedom in my day so I'm never stuck at work or at a desk anyway. But the first thing I do when I wake up is have a quick espresso and take the dogs out for an hour or so. Kicks the day off right.

true. it doesn't replace cardio (raising your heart rate to Zone 2 or above), or strength training. but 1. Something is always better than nothing, and 2. Even with regular cardio and strength training, walking is still beneficial.

So, is the Yakima tailgate cover simply a protective "blanket", or is there more to it?

Basically haha. It’s like a super fancy padded blanket that straps to your tailgate haha. Nice to transport like 5 bikes in the bed. Cheap compared to a hitch rack.

What kind of material are the pants? They look very slim fit to me is why I have never bought any.

Thanks to all for the warm up and kinetic stretching info. I used those and took it easy at first and frankly my ride was nicer, I feel better now and not one "tight" area after showering. Awesome!!

    Curious too.

I don't mind slim fit but even some "cyclist" pants don't fit my thighs. I'm not a big dude at all but my thighs are big relatively and pants are impossible to find.

As long as it works. Always a fan of simplicity and function!
