I've worked in a lot of shops. This is the most wrong thing I've ever heard. Ha.

Just giving you a hard time.... But I've never heard of this. Always line them up with the label.

Looking to buy my first bike computer. Looking at the Wahoo Elemnt Bolt vs Garmin 530. Any owners or past owners of these care to chime in with their experience with either one? I see Garmin 530 price has dropped, so guessing a successor is coming soon?

(My use: it'll be mostly for road and gravel riding, maybe a little mtb riding. I dont care about fitness/workout suggestions... I just need basics like speed, power, cadence, etc, and good mapping/routing... and a decent/intuitive user interface)

Same here! Ended at 891. Going to have to pick up the slack next year and do 1109 miles!

BMX rider here. Mid 40s now. I dont know miles ridden, but I rode quite a bit this past year.

Started off 2021 with covid, got past that, got a new frame and bars in March and started riding almost every night til Mid april. Made a mini ramp in the basement. Took a while to get used to my new setup since my last frame was 10 years old.

Some days I'd just get out and cruise the neighborhood, some nights I'd hit up my local skatepark, other nights my son would have off ice hockey training so I'd find something to shred at wherever the training took place, pumptracks here and there, trails when I feel like shoveling. I probably rode an average of 4 nights a week with the occasional 8 hour Saturday in philly paines park or the pumptrack.

Went through some parts, rode brakeless for a long while until the point where I started hitting up the pumptrack/trails a little more frequently, really took time to get to know my new bike and get comfortable on it.

    Miles? Not sure?

I had a good time on my ride in 2021 and at my age I'm taking advantage of most nice days and evenings. I might not have too many more good years on a 20" at the skatepark. I enjoy riding more now than ever. I stick with the basics and what's easy for me. I ain't trying to be the best, just trying to make what I can do look effortless (which takes a lot of effort)

So I’m in the market for a few new bikes for myself this year, and I’m borrowing a friend’s gravel bike (Trek) to try it out. My back is a little creaky these days, so I don’t need a race bike where I jam out of the saddle in the tall ring.

Man, the shifter housing and all the internal routing sure is, uh, convoluted on these frames. My right heel hits the derailleur housing. What do you folks suggest for gravel-bike type frames?

Internal routing looks cool, is better protected, and faster. But it's the absolute worst.

Looks like your housing is way too long. You could also clean up the routing with a couple more zip ties.

Best frame? Whatever is actually available.

Yea, it's not really necessary now on my mountain bikes, but it's just habit.

It is actually helpful on bikes that aren't mountain bikes, where the max pressure is useful to know at a quick glance. This especially came in handy at the shop I worked at that was a very generalist shop and didn't specialize in high end road or mountain bikes. We were regularly inflating different tires on different types of bikes that have different max pressures.

It's also nice for customers that don't know shit about their bikes and needed an obvious reminder not to pump their tires up too high.

Didn’t get my goal of 1750, but considering relocating to a new state, buying a house, new job, and our first baby, not too shabby.

Tried the Garmin 530. Hated the user interface with the buttons.

Sent it back and bought the 830. Much easier to use the UI. Haven't had any issues with capacitive display and sweat or gloves. Though I wear running gloves under my cycling half gloves, and they're made to handle touchscreens.

That said, I've been using Garmin Connect for a long time so I didn't really look at the Wahoo stuff. I also don't really use Strava.

BTW - as a Garmin running watch owner for many many - never buy a new-release model. Wait six to eight months for the initial software bugs to get fixed.

Wow those are some big numbers for elevation! I had about 90 rides but only 100k elevation. You must be averaging 2000ft per ride?

About 1450 miles. I try to be closer to 2000 usually but had a few other irons in the fire this year. 2022 gonna be a big year!

I'd bite for a 20% coupon, especially if they warranty the stuff well. Buy 1 or 2 pair and basically have them forever.

Also, I dropshipped my most expensive item today.

    Anyone want a SRAM Cassette?
    NX 11-50 $100
    GX 10-50 - $215
    X01 10-50 - $385
    XX1 10-52 - $450 *COPPER

    Shipping included.

I had a goal for elevation this year. I had always been a weak climber and have finally begun to shed that label in the last 2 years. I wanted to climb at least 10,000 ft per month and finally hit the goal in mid-December. These stats are a combo of mountain bikes and fat bike (dirt & snow).
