If you're giving out beer, I'll be your bikepacking buddy!:cheers:

In all seriousness, I found a Copper Spur UL1 at the REI garage sale for like half off brand new, so I think I'm gonna give bike packing a go this summer.

My wife just booked a four day conference for July in Colorado Springs today. These things are the best. Usually in a cool location, paid for/tax write off accommodations, and I have the better part of the day to fuck off and ride or whatever while she's in meetings.

We'll be staying in the SE of Colorado Springs. What are the must-do trails? Both riding and 4x4.

Likely travelling down via Spearfish, SD and the Black Hills.

Shaping up to be an awesome summer for riding for me.

As someone who lives in Manitoba you aren't missing anything.

Most 2L beers are pretty terrible. Ha. Quantity over quality sort of thing.

@mrtonyd is probably a better source than I. I just moved to Alabama but I lived there from 2015 to 2021. If you are trying to do some quick rides I highly recommend @mrtonyd giving you a tour. My top ride would be a Pikes Peak descent, next would be a Captain Jacks and Chutes descent. I could also recommend Red Rock Open Space, Ute Valley, and Palmer Park as easy rides that are completely doable in a couple of hours. As far as 4x4 trails, I highly recommend Metberry Gulch. Not too saucy but can be if you have a bad spotter.

Looks like I'm staying about a 5 or 10 minute ride from the bottom of Chutes. I'll definitely check out Captain Jacks. I typically have six hours or so when it's just me so I can hopefully do a ton of exploring.

My wife is my spotter and she is terrible at it. Ha. She also gets car sick so definitely looking for less saucy. Or something I can do spotterless while she's busy. I love that lady but wheeling isn't her thing. :rofl:We also may be taking her 4Runner. She's much more precious about it than I am the Tacoma.

Drink it cold and drink it fast and it'll do the trick.

I’m sure it will, but that’s not drinking it for the effect, not for the taste.

Though I wonder whether Seagrams VO might not have as good or better effect per Loonie spent?

Yeah I could totally guide you around while you're down in springs. I'm a 10 minute ride from Stratton open space/bottom of the chutes. That is really the bottom of a ton of trails and an option to finish if you start at the top of pikes peak the ride captain Jack's. @levie125 mentioned the other parks and I really like red rocks. You can link Stratton to red rocks, but it would be a mile or two of pavement. Some riding north of springs in monument. South is lake Pueblo that's more of a winter spot. Southwest is Canon City with some good riding too, there's also the sky drive thing like a road on the top of a ridge. Tons of places if you wanted to head west too.

As far as off road driving, you can drive up old stage road from the Broadmoor to cripple Creek, one of the two gambling cities in Colorado. Rampart range road up from garden of the gods is a scenic dirt road. Once you get to the top you can explore a bit in pike national Forest. Some off shoots and Spurs can be pretty fun. You can head west from springs to woodland Park then go north to rainbow falls for some fun driving too. The gulches are supposed to be good too, I'm a bit nervous to drive them to be honest.

How did you dislocate it? I thought I dislocated my pinky once, after a couple days the swelling didn’t go down so I went to the doctor and found out I fractured straight down the middle of the joint. I never hurt other than when I did it and when I pulled on it thinking it was dislocated….

Nice. Thanks! Lots of information to chew on. I'll definitely try to link up for a ride.

We'll be staying at the Broadmoor. My wife was literally just looking at Old Stage Road on google.

riding bikes. I didn’t let go of the handlebars when sliding out in a turn and the ground grabbed the finger and gave it a spin.

I can hold it straight and bend it just shy of all the way. I can bend it all the way without pain if I use my other hand to help it. Just not by itself yet.

this is what It looked like when it happened.

i've dislocated my pinky...like straight up it was 90 degrees to where it should've been...it stayed swollen for a while. I think like 2 weeks? the biggsest thing for me was making sure i did self-PT so I could maintain range of motion. it took about a month before I felt semi normal with the pinky I believe.

My last good one is at 3 years and counting. It's my ring finger and I've done so much damage to it over the years that my ring size is 2 sizes than the other hand.

ah yeah that looks like an obvious dislocation haha. I haven’t dislocated a finger so can’t speak to it. I do think hands can be a little more sensitive when it comes to injuries
