please just don't get yourself killed or hurt... I think motorcycles are cool for sure, but being in physical therapy, and my cousin dying in a motorcycle accident, I'm put off of them. (at least for street and road use, track riding and racing is cool...)

Ok dudes, I need everyone's input, advice, criticism, dna sample jk. I have been riding training for the ELY enduro beginner race in june. My local bike shop has a sweet motocanbe uno gravel (alum frame) bike that is MINT condition, catch is its a fixie, its got some really nice aftermarket road bike type handlebars, and a carbon fork. it has some upgrades. It is like a golden/ dark red color. This is the same place where I scored a SWEET kona for my wife. Bike has nice hydralic disc brakes, like NEW mint condition for $ 500 bucks. should I get it and ride like crazy like I have been everyday for training. This dude said the fixies will make you a stronger rider. what do you guys think?

while yea everyone i know that rides fixies (the 3 people) are strong and fast as heck. but its a very different ride than an enduro bike. youre saying the motobecane has hydraulic disc brakes? thats not something i see on fixies too often. if they brakes are shifters and you can add gears in the future go for it. my fixie was like $200 from Amazon that came with flat bars and rim brakes. if youre in the market got a graveler that sounds like a sweet deal if you can flip it to single speed. but you cant flip the wheel if theres a disc on the other side? you would have to swap the hub? idk im confusing myself here

so, I dont have photos of the bike but I will be going there tomorrow and I will take some. the bike is a single speed, yes, it has hydralic disc brakes as well. so I think it is a motobecane uno outcast pro, with the handlebars swapped out for some angled/flared flat bars.

I'm not sure how much fixie training crosses over to enduro training.

As a track rider I'll say there's no problem with fixies.

But.... For outdoor training, unless you know what you're doing, there are better tools. Especially depending on your terrain.

"Fixies will make you stronger" means nothing. There's nothing about them that will make you stronger other than being constantly overgeared or undergeared. You can get a better quality workout on a geared bike in my opinion.

I do train outdoors on my track bike but it's rare and usually involves motor-pacing or hill repeats.

Depends on what you're looking to get out of it. Are you just looking to ride on the road as opposed to the trails?

Depending on what you are trying to accomplish - some cross training can also have a large impact.

I cant remember which trip it was, but about two months before I started doing squats, dead lifts, kettle bell swings and a few other workouts - and strengthening my core and being able to hover in that attack position on long down hills made a big difference.

My cross trainer is my BMX bike. Everything hurts after riding that thing around for a little while.

It def builds your stamina cuz youre either pedaling or walking. No inbetween. Great way to build legs and cardio in hilly areas.

Yeah, singlespeeders are a angry bunch for a reason usually.

Will the shop let you try it for a day to see how you like it?
If so i would try. Single speed bike is alot more effort then you think, atleast riding my DJ around the city is. Cant imagine a fixie.
