fun trail to shuttle! Great scenery, you're in a beautiful pine forest the whole time with great views. fairly easy, its green/blue for most parts. a few obstacles/light chunky sections and features that a beginner or low intermediate might have trouble with, but nothing mandatory, all easily go-around-able. lol so definitely a trail to ride fast to make fun. it was 6.5 miles, 2200 feet down from the Nordic Center at the top down to the parking lot. My third run I did it in 30 min.

Anyone wear 686? They're new bike collection is coming out tomorrow. Guess their collab with Evil was enough and they are doing more colors. Seems pretty limited right now, and the link they posted on IG doesn't work on my old ass phone, but I searched bike on their website and found some shorts and pants. Its $100+ for pants or shorts, which is kinda steep, but i think it could be worth it. I'm going to order a pair tonight and see how it goes.

    Agree with your edit.

BB shell means nothing could rub on it. Plus even if it could, the wear would be all the way around the spindle. Has to be something in the BB, which is what I'm assuming happened - got a tiny piece of gravel or something in there when last servicing or swapping chainrings. Guess it could be out of round too, but that seams unlikely. Also noticed the tiny o ring had failed on that side, but doubt that would cause any issues.

Anyways, ordered a new BB, will install that soon and keep an eye on it.

@whitedlite I agree with your comments on Outbound Lighting. It may have been you that mentioned them last year when I was looking for lights, I ended up with the Evo package and love it! Amazing the amount of light you get from both. And the customer service is fabulous! I’ve talked with the owner a few times to get the right setup for bar and helmet mounts and they go out of their way to help!

That was me, if I lost or broke beyond repair one of their lights I’d purchase again for sure.

I was the one who left it on the roof of the car after using it as a photography light in Oahu lol.

I found it because in its high speed tumble on the asphalt it happen to turn on. Anyways, iirc this was near the beginning of my two weeks in Oahu and Kauai and by the time I got home the new one was waiting on me with a return label for this one. They said they’d use it as a display to showcase how strong the housing is.

I used to ride solo into dusk in the foothills, lights on. Then someone reminded me how my kitty likes to hunt lasers on the floor, so I stopped doing that. I definitely seen/heard/smelled a few on those rides, just never really worried about it. I saw one once, in COs Roosevelt Forest. It was less than 10 feet away, just sauntered off after making eye contact. I really wanted to snap a phone pic, but didn't really want to let my guard down at all. Those things move FAST.

Lots of experience with their snowboard gear. Some of the best designed stuff, and super reliable.

On Saturday night a slight dusting of snow. The day before it was 88° so the ground being so warm any snow that fell melted off right away. Sunday was pretty windy and 50’ish degrees in the morning hours. I was chomping at the bit to get out but I waited in hopes the weather would change, after all this is Colorado. Glad I did, suddenly the wind stopped and by 2pm it was 60° dead still and overcast. Off I went, very few people on the trail due to the morning chill. I couldn’t ask for better conditions, the moisture event from yesterday made the dirt perfect, no mud and no dust. We call that Velcro dirt.

    New Jersey debut.

Has anyone on here run a fork with ~10mil more travel than came on the bike? I've heard all the standard "it'll be harder to climb, it's gonna be harder to turn' arguments but I'm curious if anyone has had actual experience with it

Yep. My V2 Bronson had +10 up to 160mm and it was fine. I never rode it "standard" so I can't tell you how much difference there was, but it didn't seem to be a bad bike. I doubt you'd realize a meaningful difference as an average joe.

That's the way it is with bikes. People obsesses over the slightest changes like its some big thing.

Reminds me of those kids in school that always knew arbitrary baseball stats or some other thing.

    not enough.
    what everyone else said.

is it TECHNICALLY a bit harder to climb/turn? TECHNICALLY yes. but realistically? you probably won't notice it unless you're a racer and can feel the minute differences on yoru bike. You'll feel the 1cm maybe in your travel but probably won't affect your riding.

Only 10mm? I haven't not hacked a bike with shocks/anglesets/etc in many years. Just take a spacer out from under the stem to keep the bar height the same.
