I can feel the difference in the settings of my Talas fork but that’s larger increments.

I've run 120, 130, and 140 on my hardtail (it's designed around 120). I can tell the difference (both good and bad) but it's minimal and I prefer the 140 at this point...

It's probably more for liability purposes that shop employees may not recommend going beyond the design limits of the bike. I over fork most of my bike by at least 10mm.

Shimano road and MTB shoes often have a wide option in several of their popular models.

2 of my 3 bikes are "over forked". It's fine, 90% of the time.
What bike and fork combo are you asking about?

    I like this suggestion!

I have a 2020 giant trance 3 29 that comes with a 130m mariachi bomber Z1 and I want to upgrade to a rockshoxs pike ultimate but I need to switch to 140m to make it happen

This also impacts reach as well.

That it does. Assume 66deg head angle, 50mm stem, and 10mm drop would be a 4mm reach difference. Monumental I know.

That Bomber is a great fork. Any reason you want to switch? If it's for more adjustments, you can throw a Fox Grip2 damper in there and get an amazing fork for way less than a new Pike.
But if you're set on the Pike, an air spring is a cheap and easy replacement. That way you can keep the 130, if that's what you're after.
Personally, I'd definitely keep the Bomber and tune it up a bit. Assuming you've done regular maintenance, spending some time tuning it should make it ride at least as good (if not better) than the Pike.

That was my question as well! I don't think you can fish it though, since I've never seen anyone on it. @ginseng27 , do you know?

I have the 1up RakAttach version. It works great for when I keep my bike on the rack but still need access to the bed. Also, on my RakAttach, it extends the rack further back so I can open the tailgate without the tailgate hitting the bike on the rack. It does add length however, so if you have limited space in your garage, I would measure first before purchasing.
