I finally bought a fatbike this year and am looking forward to night rides once the snow falls. Once winter hits, I am going to need an activity to both occupy my mind and provide a physical outlet. Have a nice Norditrack trainer in the basement which is great for a quick 30-40 intense workout, but I solely used that last winter and towards the end of the season started to loath trainer rides.

Hoping that if I spend the money up front and have all the needed tools to do winter rides, I will be more inclined to use them so I don't get buyers remorse lol.

I would pay attention to color temp and CRI when picking out lights if possible. My experience has been a lot of MTB specific lights are whiter/bluer than I prefer (probably not the case for the expensive stuff - i'd hope).

I whore this pic out when the lighting topic comes up, but being able to distinguish roots/rocks and it being easier on the eyes is worth taking into consideration. There's also the ability to outrun the light depending on what kidn of riding you are planning on doing.

My Evil Following is Superboost too with a 56.5mm chainline. The bottom bracket and spacers play a part in chainline too, not just the cranks and chainring offset. Is it a DUB BB? Most oval companies show 0 offset as "superboost" but my Following (and it sound like your Switchblade) were spec'd with 3mm offset chainrings. In fact that's what the SRAM DUB BB spacer chart shows for superboost.

+1 on a rec for Outbound Lighting...Tom "Danger" Place is the guy we deal with in our LBS. When their early EVO mounts were cracking we shot them an email...he personally delivered new mounts for all our in stock lights plus threw us another handful on his way to Sea Otter this past year. Stand up company and dude.

I've used the NR series 750 Luminas for both helmet/bar combos, and until the Outbound systems came along hadn't found anything else that threw a good pattern...which is where the Outbound lights really...shine.

The lense/led combos on their EVO bar lights/Hangover helmet lights really set them apart, and the photos on their website with diff light patterns aren't an exaggeration. It throws a ton of light down trail and into all the nooks and crannies of the local cholla's in and around the PHX desert here.

Pricey yes, but if you're riding at least a couple times a week at night...def worth the extra $$$.

My parents gave us some old bikes and I was finally able to load them up for a family trip. I’m not as sophisticated of a biker as some here, but doing this sort of thing with a truck has been a dream of mine for a while. And now it has happened. Thanks for letting me share this happy moment.

Already bought some parts for it, she’s going to get a Shimano drivetrain and brakes (thanks @backcountryj ), fork will be a Lyrik Ultimate or Fox 36 performance elite or factory, I’d like I9 wheels again and likely a Diety cockpit. Lots up in the air, never built a bike before so I’m sure I’ll have dumb questions along the way.

man I looked at that email for the event same day from Jarrods place and it sold out within a few hours. No telling how many no shows applied just bc it’s a transition demo day. Jarrods was also selling limited spots to the event.

Either way I’d rather go on a moderately busy day. Just enough that if I wreck I’m not alone too long lol
